The last month has shown (if we didn't already know) that we are still short in certain areas to mount a sustained challenge for the title. Looking at the squad specifically - not interested in the Ole in/out arguments.
So where do we need to strengthen? Who is available? Will we have the budget to sort out the problems?
Firstly I think Henderson deserves a run in the side. De Gea has lost something in recent years and often looks like a liability. An audition for next seasons no 1 spot.
We need a centre back. Despite the fact that Lindelöf was fouled for thei goal yesterday, he is simply not good enough and does not compliment Maguire at all. Seems far too weak for the PL and i'm never confident with him at the back. Reminds me of Lovern when he was at Liverpool.
Such a difficult spot to fill, Bailly isn't reliable injury wise, and Tuanzebe has regressed probably again due to injuries. I don't believe there is an outstanding available option out there. Koulibaly possibly, konate nw that Upamecano looks Bayern bound. Fear me may have to go in with what we have here.
Midfield is an area where I believe we have a lot of depth, but don't believe we have the right combination. I still think it's likely that Pogba will leave, and DVB has not impressed me (hopefully this is just due to not being given game time), I believe he was bought in anticipation of Pogba leaving. Bruno is clearly nailed on starter next year, and McTominay is looking well at home in that box to box role. Fred while he works hard and can put in a tackle just can't recycle the play well enough to be a long term option. A younger version of Matic or Carrick would be ideal but I don't know who that could be. Scouts may have to earm their corn here.
Right wing has been a problem for a long time for us. Daniel James just isn't good enough I think, and I think Mason will eventually end up as a striker. Sick of seeing Rashford out there as he is so ineffective. It looks like we are still monitoring Sancho, of which the Jury is firmly still out on, but would be an upgrade.
Up front it looks like Ole hasn't given up hope on Haaland signing, the fact the two were at Molde together could swing things. Martial has shown he's not up for a fight for the no 9 spot, and Cavani is 34. Haaland I believe would be perfect if it's doable.
So, how will we line up next year? I've probably raised more questions that I've answered lol

We should seriously be looking at Pedro Neto - a bit raw, but only 20 years old and I think his potential is absolutely huge. Right now he's what Dan James would be if he had genuine footballing ability to go with that pace.

You should be because that's the main area you're short in!

christ you're like a broken record on here, pop up 4 times a day on the united board to make the same comment.
you do realise that over the past 40 games - over one season's worth - we have picked up more points than any other PL team bar city?
do you think we have the second best squad in the league? if not, does any credit go to the manager at all for our apparent outperformance?

I keep reading about Garner impressing out on loan, does he play a Carrick type role?

Do you think Real Madrid fans to around parading a "40 game over two season's" trophy? I'd get it if Tottenham fans were parading that type of stat but you lot?
You're a reason the Glazers have free reign to take the mick out of your club.
Under Ole you've gone from the 2nd highest wage bill in the league to 10th and are on your worst run without a trophy for three decades. For a club your size that's what counts, not this nonsense of "we would be 2nd over 40 games if there was two half a season tables added together".
With the resources you have you should be turning the PL into exactly what Bayern and PSG have turned their league's into but not only have you failed to do that you're accepting it the (in comparison) crap you've got as alternative for what? The guise of a 'rebuild'? Because you like the manager as a man? (Quite possibly why the Glazers have appointed him and won't fire him no matter what) or because you want to be considered a 'top loyal fan' who will unconditionally support/accept anything? Or something else?
If you collectively as a fanbase demanded better you would be so much better off for it but instead there's this weird obsession with defending anything and everything at all costs which you would never see on the continent with biggish clubs (see Marseille, Sporting Lisbon) let alone the elite.
Atleast with the media they can say that they're paid to be part of the Glazers PR team, you're doing it for free!

ah, so you want to see us unhappy, and throwing our toys out of the pram in an online version of the white hanky waving of madrid fans? well, sorry to disappoint.
but instead there's this weird obsession with defending anything and everything
and this just shows that you're here simply to wum, because you obviously know nothing at all about the united fans' opinions of the manager.

I just thought fans of the biggest club in the country if not the world would have higher (or atleast some) standards.
Let's forget winning titles for a second, you haven't properly challenged for one since Fergie left and not only that haven't done much of note in the CL, why are you accepting that?
