Just as the title says, a player you didn’t really rate, or has been in poor form for a while, or is just having a crazy overperformance like Gundogan. Who are the seasons contenders for you?

Aurier Dawson Stones Shaw
Tielemans Gundogan Mount
Bamford DCL Maddison
Martinez’s is more from the restart. The likes of Mount/Maddison/DCL were good but I thought have gone up a level this season that I didn’t expect. Tielemans might just be the best midfielder (8) in the league. Bamford is on for his best ever season at his highest consistent level. The back 4 are playing at a level that would have been hard to predict this time last year.

I guess it depends how you define waxing lyrical, but morons on Twitter aside (that every fanbase has) Mount has been the one player the large majority of Chelsea fans agree on being quality from the beginning of last season.
There's division on Christensen, CHO, Abraham... but Mount (and to a lesser extent James) is the one/two that we knew would be awesome.

Yeah I'm not surprised Mount has done well this session. I'm not going to claim I knew much about him but a young player improving is hardly a shock

Plenty on this site had written Mount off (or dismissive of his qualities and made vilification remarks) from the outset, before he had kicked a ball for Chelsea...
Branding him a "Championship player", "Lightweight" "Stats not good enough to make it at Chelsea", "Barkley is better and PL proven", "Played for Vitesse (stigma)" etc - So can't possibly be ready for Chelsea.
You know the usual cliched drivel from braindead 🐑 that fail to appreciate our homegrown players or haven't got a clue about them, all of them currently in the first-team squad are extremely good and competitive in their own right with strong mentalities and high footballing IQ’s.
