A difficult one for me to call. Natural reaction is to nail your colours to the mast and declare Fab as the no.1, inevitable MOTM. He was truly immense, it isn’t until he’s back there that you realise how much you’ve missed him being there. What a signing, what a player. But hasn’t he been doing that since we signed him from Monaco the week after we lost the CL final? It was still fantastic to see him back there, positively owning the midfield.
But MOTM? Up there, definitely, but that’s what we come to expect of him. Definitely not out of his comfort zone, taking nothing away from him, but that’s what he can do all day long.
Two other points to make: Dear FLC owners, I, like many of my fellow Reds appreciate that youknowfekal about football, but the chappie you played as captain tonight, you know, the same one that plays for Holland, whatever he’s asking for in a renewed contact, for god sake give it to him. He too was immense. Again.
The second point: Thiago. After tonight, and having seen his performance, his commitment, his ball play, his world-class skill, and you still don’t think he’s good enough, please get medical help. You definitely need it. It will do you good.
Returning to MOTM. One, possibly two stood out for me. Kabak grows in contribution by each game, a true Red who I hope we sign permanently, he deserves it. Overshadowed, very slightly it must be said, by my MOTM, Nathaniel Phillips. What a player, what a hard man, what a competitor for Joe, what a professional who deserves an immediate renewed contract from Liverpool Football Club.
MOTM?

Fabinho

Yeah, no problem, he was outstanding, excellent choice, but Nat played way above that which I suspect many didn’t think he had in him. That’s why I picked him as my MOTM

I’m amazed Thiago was called into question, has more talent than anyone in your entire squad, he’s just more used to playing with technicians and tactical players rather than kick and rush

Tried a bit too hard there.

Doesn’t matter what we offer Gini. Money isn’t the issue. He’s off.
Last big contract and seemingly has interest from Italy and Spain. Nice weather. New country. Might get to express himself a bit more and not have to be so ‘disciplined’ in a 3 man midfield.
Gonna be hard to replace

Bissouma could be a good gini replacement, if brighton go down.

Thiago MOTM for me. Phillips was good in a stick your head in everywhere, barge through players, old style defending kind of way. Rushing in a lot leaving space behind however. Fabinho was very good also.

people do realise that we've seen 2 games v leipzig and they were no great shakes in either game.
Poulsen and forsberg are oppoenents that any cb should be happy to see compared to what they used to have.
We are all grateful to get a win but getting carried away with that will just lead to another massive let down. We need to improve from here, thats just the way it is.
I would love to see is apply the same level of effort i nthe next game like it actually matters.
we gave nothing like that effort v fulham.

Fab was superb
Thiago is a player of the highest quality... he’s as good as Silva or De Bruyne ... how people can’t see this is truly mind blowing
I always feel we play like a team when Jones doesn’t start ,,, i personally don’t think he’s anywhere near as good as he thinks he is and he is a selfish player ... we have players who can be selfish such as Mane and Salah which you need sometimes as a forward but you can’t have someone behind them being selfish

people can't see it cos he is half fit and can't find the space to show the ability.
He had the whole pitch to do his thing last night.
the important thing though is he could go do a specific job as well with fabinho and wijnaludm behind him.
Like when we had gerrard under rafa, he had two lads behind him to rely on 100% so can go look great.
Gerrard had macherano and alonso. What a platform to play from.
When thigo is asked to do the role behind with wijnaludm in particular and then someone else gets to go run about in fornt of course it doesn't work. Thiago simply is not fit enough after his injury to run about doing that work. (aka can't do the alonso work)
If we could rotata thiago and keita in games and get a really good hour or of one of them every game it would be great.
