Newcastle kept Shearer through all their struggles, they would have done a lot worse without him.

I don't recall their fans ever turning on him and somehow blaming their star player and club legend for not winning them a trophy.

Yes, I would love to keep Kane, but sometimes you have to change things around. Hand on heart do you think Spurs are going to win trophies with Kane over the next few years, with the current squad. The whole squad needs an overhaul, and that would include Kane.

Sandy is using a sledgehammer to crush a nut but the basis of the argument he is making is correct.

I have used Thurs night as a perfect example of Kanes problem (missed 3 good chances) yet nobody on here has addressed this. Its all very well banging them in against WBA, Burnley or Palace but where was the goal when we just needed one to stay in the Europa and keep our CL qualification chances alive.

I hate this "he has to leave to win something" attitude. Why doesn't he stay with us and try to score the important goals that lead to us winning a trophy?

At the moment he could be considered a flat track bully.

This is a small blip in Kane's career. He has always scored against the big teams. He is one of the most lethal finishers the prem has ever seen for goodness sakes! His record is better than most. Compare his goals against top 6 teams to any other striker. He will be back on track soon

Yet we haven't won a trophy since 2008 and our biggest achievement since he broke into the first team (reaching the CL final) was done when he was injured.

He hasn't delivered when it really matters and I don't see how anybody can say otherwise.

I don't want him to leave (unless stupid money is offered) but I do want to see some match winning performances/goals against the top teams that leads to silverware.

How exactly is it the last chance saloon for him? Are we gonna rip up his contract if he doesn’t score a hat trick?

Notice how Sandy has gone over and above to slate Poch because he was popular with fans, and cozy up with Jose who is divisive? And now that things are going wrong for Jose, rather than extend the same criticism he did to Poch, he is turning to being way OTT on Kane - our best and most people’s favourite player.

Now stop posting porkies. I don`t slavisly support managers like you do, they come and go as do players. Jose is no different to any other Spurs manager, if he doesn`t get results, he will be sacked. Not quite sure why you don`t quite get that.

I have never cosied up to any manager, bar perhaps Billy Nicholson, but then he delivered big time. Every manager of Spurs if he doesn`t deliver, then deserves to be replaced. Same at any club.

As for Kane, of course I don`t want him to leave, but if he does, I wouldn`t be crying shed loads of tears like you and lots of others did when Poch left. I will just move on. Kane won`t be the last striker to ever play for Spurs.

Kane is in the last chance saloon against City in the cup? What is he scores 2 and you lose 5-2? Would that mean that you sell him because he hasn't led you to glory? For someone of you age, your naivety around football and most things is staggering. You don't willingly sell your best players and become successful. You build around those players and get recruitment right, which Spurs clearly haven't for years now. So you look at the scouting and transfer team and ask why you spent 42 million on Sanchez, 30 million on Sissoko, 15 million on Doherty, 54 million on N'Dombele etc.

Kane`s job is to score goals, which he does quite a lot, but it is also his job to score when it really matters, which he never does. Spurs needed just one goal midweek, Kane had three really decent chances, and missed all three. Those are the times he needs to score, not against the likes of Burnley, Sheffield United etc, in mainly meaningless Prem games that are not going to actually deliver a title in a million years.

I belong to THST, they write letters to the club all the time airing our views, lots of supporters do. Why are you singling me out for writing a letter to the club I support, when it is fairly normal for passionate supporters.

I think you are very odd, for always replying to my posts. Very strange behaviour. I don`t spend hours responding to other posters if I have a difference of opinion. One or two posts suffice, then I move on.

i think selling your two best players is not the way but selling kane at a lot of the dross ( if you can ) would not be a bad idea.
you do have some good players to work with.
if you could get three good players for kane and offload the big mistake you could challenge for top four easy.

We sold suarez after nearly winning the league and bought in Balotelli and Rickie Lambert to replace him. The following season we finished 7th and were out of the top 4 the following two seasons.
The reason we won the CL and Prem was down go getting the right coach in and sorting out our transfers and getting the right players in.
The hardest and most expensive thing in football is finding and buying guaranteed goalscorers. You have the second best striker in world.
