Tough Draw

Had a couple of days to think about this and it would take collective genius, luck, collective resolve and near perfect tactics from Pep to land the champions league this season.

Ive heard all the talk about this being a perfect opportunity. Last season was perfect and we facked that up. This season is no different. People concentrate on the paucity of the 2 biggest clubs in europe (Real and Barca) and assume everyone else is weak. Dont agree myself.

Dortmund are pants but on their day can cause us issues, PSG will be a struggle, the type of team we struggle against. It will be Lyon all over again but with Mbappe instead of Dembele. Bayern are obviously great and if we get to the final even Liverpool and Chelsea will be tough.

Our defense and Gundo's goals have carried us throughout this season but something in my stomach tells me we could use a peak Kun to get us to the holy grail.

Maybe I'm overthinking this but what else could go wrong, or right in this case.

The team that won the domestic treble was better than this current group, the defeat against Spurs was just a fluke and if we had met liverpool in that final with KDB returning from injury I feel we would have beat them. We were unstoppable that season.

This season we are patient, our defence is so good but we have had the fortune to eventually get goals when we need them. But the Champions league is different, Its a tough call but I fear the worst as a city fan.

We beat Bayern away when they had Robben and Ribery.

They are only just ahead of RBL in the league and Liverpool disposed of them with ease.

I said in a post a few weeks back that if yous drew the bigger guns it may actually work in your favour a bit. You have been knocked out by lyon spurs and us the last 3 seasons, all teams at the time of playing them you were considerably better than.

It might just take the heat off a bit, not going into the tie as overwhelming favourites. Whoever you get in the semi (if you get there) it will be 50-50.

Dont buy into this guff that its now or never though, thats a nonsense. Sooner or later yous will win it, its not an if merely a when.

It begs the question !

When we have a world class striker, it’s the one thing we’re missing.

I'd be more than happy to meet Liverpool in the final after our last 3 meetings.

The 3 top teams are all in one half of the draw and given our record I am not ruling out Dortmund at all. Whoever comes through from the City half of the draw should start the final as considerable favourites.

Looks like we'll be playing in Budapest again.

Seems to suit us but not German teams.

We didn't trounce Bayern in their own backyard,
it was 3-2 and we lost the home leg.
I am glad we might face them over 2 legs and not a one off final.
Our record against them in the CL is pretty much even steven.
A few years back in the CL , Dortmund put on the best away performance I have seen at the Etihad. They ran us ragged for 90 minutes and we escaped with a 1-1 thanks to a Mario penalty and Joe Hart having one of those games. I am more concerned with Dortmund at this time.
On a personal note , I would love to beat Liverpool in the final so the next time their fans, media and pundits bang on about "that night in Istanbul " we can say yeah but you lost
