Am i the only one sick of hearing footballs a matter of life and death all the time?
I love football but its not a matter of life and death far from it.
If some bloke had your child hostage and said ill release him if you burn down your teams ground, you would do it in a shot.
If some god in magical fantasy land came and said we will bring one of your family members or a close mate you miss back to life for one day but your team will have to drop a division, you would say send them down.
If you had the option of a romantic night with the love of your live but your have to cancel your weekend trip to football, your be straight on ebay putting the ticket up for sale.
Bit extreme examples there but if i made silly examples it wont get through. Its all just proves football aint life or death serious, i love football and i love Chelsea even more but both comes a long distance 2nd to personal life for me that's for sure.
footballs NOT a matter of life and death

I too concur with the original poster. What baffles me is how people who are struggling financially will willingly spend their money on watching games to pay the wages of what are now really a bunch of overpaid nancy boys.

I've got to say, that I find most so-called amusing footy quotes (as I find most so-called witty quotes from famous dead persons) to be anything but funny.
Oscar Wilde, when coming through Customs and asked "do you have anything to declare" is supposed to have said "nothing but my genius!" Not only is that NOT funny, but I hope those Customs officers kicked the s**t out of him!
Brian Clough is reported, at the end of his career, to have said "I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one." Oh! It rips my sides apart!
No doubt, that clown Holloway is going to be quoted as one of modern football's best wags. That man is semi-literate. Oh! The irony!

Regrettably over-cited, the quotes by O. Wilde & B. Clough still are dead-funny. As simple as that. No idea what I. Holloway is doing in your overview of 100+ years of humour, but there you go.
However, I appreciate your opinion. Different kettle of fish. You(r view on things) 've Been Framed.

Ghandi, when asked what he thought of Western Civilisation, is supported to have retorted, "I think it would be a good idea!" And people wonder why he was shot.

Football is important througout the world. ok its not life or death in england but in some places it is.
kids on the streets of Rio if they dont get involved with football they will end up either in a gang getting killed or killed off by the police in their notorious killings of street kids.
football is the only thing in the world that will unite people of a different culture, language, creed, colour. once you bring out a football and kick it about you will have strangers asking you to play withing a couple of minutes. only football can do that.
ok its not quite life or death, but its not far off.
