Club or country?

Let's suppose you have a once in a lifetime wish for your club to win the Champions League or for England (or Scotland for those over the border) to win the World Cup. Which would give you the highest degree of satisfaction? Would gloating rights over club rivals trump national pride? For me, purely on instinct, it would be for Bielsa to lead the mighty Leeds United to CL glory!!!

Country, but only because ive seen my club lift old big ears a few times already.

As for people wanting it to go back to champions only, itll make the competition as boring as euros/wc n cl groups the few big teams playing farmers and plumbers. Surely anyone with eyes can see the top 6/7 from the big 3/4 leagues are stronger competition than 99% of the rest thus making it a much stronger competition.

I agree that, say, Real Madrid vs Chelsea is a more even match up than the likes of Liverpool vs Maribor. But Real Madrid *again* vs Chelsea *again* even when one or the other flopped in the league in the previous season just makes for a very tedious competition. You can even see it in the way that English teams treat "top 4" as a trophy in itself. Sure winning the league is great, but I'm sure Man City fans would have been a lot more gutted about finishing second last season if it meant missing out on the CL as a result. The CL might have the strongest teams, but it doesn't make it the best competitive.

And doing even get me started on teams that finish 3rd in their CL group dropping down into the EL. It's like a never ending obsession with rewarding failure.

It’s already really boring. It’s the same teams every year.

The Premier league is also the same teams every year.

And to be honest that’s a bit dull these days.

Yeah, because of covid.

The whole season feels like one long international break.

I haven’t been all that interested for longer than that to be fair, nothing to do with Utd not doing well, more how money obsessed it’s become.

Oh yeah, we've had these conversations before. I'm aware of your opinion about the money. Fair play to you.

Not that the internationals aren’t designed to generate vast sums of money, but it still seems less corrupted, for now.

A male England supporter in his mid 30s will statistically only have about 7-10 World Cups left in the tank.

Make that 5 or 6, if we're being realistic. As we're bound to mess up a couple of qualifying campaigns.

I vote for a World Cup win.

But FIFA is more corrupt than them all.
