Focus shifting

Yesterday felt like we had one eye on the EL game this week. An awful game to watch players weren't exactly throwing themselves about. A minor positive from yesterday was the fact the Bielsa, notorious for sticking to his guns, seemed content to defend, which perhaps is a sign of the direction we are heading in. They didn't open up, there was a bit of fear there.

I didn't think the game was so bad yesterday, nor that we were that bad. I thought we played considerably better than we did in our win against Burnley last week, for example. We should have taken at least one of our chances, and we had, we'd have put it down as a comfortable win against a side that has troubled all the big teams. And we achieved this despite having Pogba and Cavani on the bench and Dan James being Dan James.

By the way, AWB is getting more and more assured on the ball. I thought he was impressive yesterday.

I thought we did OK yesterday even though I though it was pretty obvious we had one eye on the Europa League.

One more win should do it (even though I think we could probably lose all of our games and still get in the top 4 now) and it'd be good to do it on Sunday against Liverpool.

I do think the priority now though should be to get to a final and win it. Then we can look forward to next season with a trophy under our belts and hopefully a bit more confidence.

The players and manager didn’t seem overly bothered by yesterday in all honesty.

It’s a game a feel we would have won if we really needed to.

Yeah, what happened to "the Leeds way" we won't change our game plan for anyone, we fear no one and will always go for it in games no matter what.

Yesterday they resorted to man marking and played for a draw!

Hopefully the pundits who are constantly salivating over them will drop this Leeds philosophy bullocks now. They adapt game plans to suit like every other team do.

They are not that special!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I have seen quite a bit of Leeds this season and they have played the same way in every one of them, with the exception of yesterday. One game doesn't change the fact that they have approached the PL in a way that most promoted teams don't and managed to get results from it. They currently sit in 9th spot and their fans have been entertained all season. If Bamford was a better finisher they could easily be in a European spot. They should and will be delighted with how the season has gone.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not saying the fans shouldn't be delighted with the way the season has gone. However, they have played few times recently. Their mauling at OT I think caused a re think against certain teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would think that Bielsa realized after the game at OT that he couldn't risk losing to us again by such a wide margin. The way Leeds usually play/their player's ability is perfect for us. Yes, they are likely to have chances of their own, but they are quite wasteful in front of goal, meaning that with our higher quality forwards we will create and score more. Even yesterday I thought that we created enough chances to score a goal or two. We should really have been ahead within the first few minutes when Greenwood had a free header.

I was thinking yesterday how AWB was carrying the ball forwards ala Evra. Unfortunately, just like Evra, he can't cross.

All we did yesterday was give our defence another game together, something we've been chopping and changing for most of the season!..

Its nice to have the right players where they belong, we saw in the 6v2 game what happens with players playing out of position!..

Man United can't play a high line against the top teams. You played very deep against PSG away and got a result but when you had to attack at home you were done by pace.

You need a dominant quick defender in the mould of Rio who can play 1v1 at the back to push higher and press from the front.

......

It certainly wasn’t as bad as some posters would have you believe. It was a proper war of the roses match with tackles flying in everywhere. It was also pretty end to end in the latter stages.

It just lacked goals and you have to put that down to solid defending from both teams.

Lack of quality finishing on the day too, which can happen to anyone. Look at some of the atrocious finishing in the City game for example

----------------------------------------------------------------------While I don’t disagree with needing a quicker CB really weren’t done by pace that night.

We missed a couple of sitters to make it 2-1 when they were on the back foot.

Both of their 1st 2 goals came from fortunate ricochets not by us being caught on the break or being done by pace.
