Force Of Nature Kante...

Thoroughly OVERWHELMED Madrid. As I fully expected him to, big-game player.

The deftness of Kante' touches and (incisive) passes in possession were exquisite, absolutely crucial in our phase of play and playing through the press.
Don't ever let any loon tell you that you're not technically adept!

Supply to Vinicius was well and truly cut.
When said player was on the ball isolated with AC, AC had the measure of him...

AC immaculately silenced Vinicius and later Hazard.
Danish warrior taken to RCB role like duck to water (displacing Azpi). Footballing excellence is abundantly evident.

TT knows said player inside out.
Christensen is suited to structured back 4, back 3 and midfield build-up.
If any player is a specialist and in his element in a back three then It's Rudi...who has also been nothing short of formidable.

Pulisic' best display of the season by far, worth the wait. Long time coming, after a string of nondescript performances.

Team rocked up on Madrid' patch and showed them no respect.
The bravery was delightful and refreshing, took the initiative from the outset.

Scoreline didn't do the performance justice, a massive disserve but as per usual...productive work in build-up and progressing up the pitch undone by the weak links (I'll leave you to decide who the ineffecient players are, It's glaring to the eagle-eyed...)

Weak links that stick out like a sore thumb and are holding us back need to be weeded out of the side, rather than continually being selected regardless of performance.
Non-meritocratic choices and ostracising perfectly serviceable/capable players for no valid reason will never sit right with me.

Full-course rotation against Fulham required.

I understand the desire to play from the back. It works ok, but I get the feeling we will be made to pay eventually by the intricate weaving that goes on in our third of the pitch. Against Madrid there were two or three times we had our adrenaline pumped at full pressure.
The key word is "bravery"...our young team is very brave and full of positive energy. But those scary goalmouth moments may turn out to be serious embarrassments.

I feel a great sense of satisfication playing through the intense press effortlessly like we did, cut Madrid open without fail. It was tremendous!

Mistakes and loss of concentration building out from the back only started to happen when the pitch got heavy due to rain and players were understandably fatigued (subs should have happened sooner).

Would have subbed Azpi off at HT. Abject.

Marcelo not what he used to be, offered no attacking threat and extremely vulnerable defensively.
Reece or Callum would have trounced him (and then some). Missed opportunity.
