A name that hasn't been touted yet is that of Dean Smith. He has done well with an average Villa side. I was wondering what Spurs fans think of him as a potential manager. I would prefer him to Scott Parker personally. Also, he can leverage his influence on the likes of Grealish and Konsa to broker a deal too perhaps? Wishful thinking I know, but if we sell Alli, Sissoko, Dier etc maybe we can afford to spend on Grealish.

Seems like a Villa man through and through. Reeks of Alan Curblishley at Charlton. Some managers are suited to a particular club like Eddie Howe.
Hard not to like Dean Smith though but he has been lucky with their owners. The past ten transfer windows have seen Villa pay £356m for players and only earn £59m back in sales, creating a net deficit of £297m, that is the seventh-highest in Europe.
Neverton are 6th in the table to give it some context.

Fair enough. The numbers add context

It'd be worth having Smith as manager if it meant we got Grealish.

Looking at the table is so depressing knowing all the games that we lost or drew from winning positions, think 5th or 6th is very likely

I like Dean Smith and he's done a good job (I think he has done well in previous lower league clubs too), but I do think he is a perfect fit for Villa and unsure he would do so well elsewhere.
Grealish is out of our price range. Konsa seems more realistic, although I imagine we're talking £30m+.

They were nearly relegated last season, needs a longer sample size
