So with boycotts of sponsors and possibly games (when possible) being touted it seems the protests are ramping up. So what do YOU think will be the outcome?
There are a few options to consider:
1. They have absolutely no effect. The Glazers continue as per with perhaps a more conciliatory tone towards fans. Depends on how moved or unmoved they are by protests.
2. The club appoint fan representation or concede to some kind of fan voice in key decisions like the ESL etc.
3. A fan/ex-player lead consortium/ or benevolent billionaire takes over. Clears the debt and the clubs financial power is ultimately used to fund footballing activities. - the ideal scenario in my opinion
4. State actor like the Saudis come in, invest huge amounts, and use the club as a sports washing stunt. This would be my least favoured option.
EDIT:
Another option of course is government regulation to create a 50 + 1 scenario. But I see this as bluster from BoJo, and the initial uproar over the ESL has died down for other clubs, and I imagine would be subject to challenge in the courts
The protests - outcome

Part of me hopes it doesnt go ahead as you can bet your last quid it will be a lot more volatile than the first time around

I think they’re also probably hoping, and maybe expecting, that the supporters will turn on each other again - that the ‘future fans’ will go after the matchgoing ‘legacy fans’, which is what happened with the Green and Gold campaign. De facto divide and conquer, if you like.
We can’t allow that to happen again. Our collective failure last time around set the club back ten years. This time we need to work to try to keep everyone at best on board, committed and contributing, and at worst understanding of the importance of solidarity.

I think that's why it's important to put forward a positive alternative vision that includes global fans.

What's the likelihood of the Glazer's trying to appease the fans by blowing a load of cash this summer? I know that would mean the Glazers having to possibly dig into thei own pockets which they don't seem to wanna do. I'm sure it wouldn't change the views of many fans but I'd imagine there's also a fickle bunch who would be pleased even if it is just a short term solution.

I don't see any change happening. They'll simply ride the storm, which won't last long as the season is nearly over. Then next season when life goes back to ordinary after lockdowns people will have other things to do. There may be some initial protests when fans go back to games, but it won't last. Managers come and go, but owners tend to stick around no matter how much they are hated.

I've listened to two or three podcasts in which this question has been raised, and all of the seasoned United-watchers are sceptical about the likelihood of this. They may be wrong but they know a lot more than me.

These are the people that sold Cristiano for £80m and replaced him with Valencia for £16m. Not that Valencia was a bad buy, but I imagine they're the kind of deals they like.

Under the Glazers our spending sprees come after failing to secure CL football. That's all they care about.

Not necessarily. the Glazers could say itl blow over and do nothing until major sponsors contracts are close to expiring.
___
they are very experienced businessmen RDD.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And what? What do you think?
They are not going to purposefully run their own business, personal finances and welfare into the ground.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. But they might try and wait out the fans give they have sponsors on lo g term contracts so no need to re negotiate for years

If the 13th May protest goes ahead and Manchester United FC fail to provide a safe environment to host this game again, the club will be probably be deducted points at the very least.
Then is gets serious.
Actions have consequences.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The last protest has already done for away fans that were to be allowed at the last two games.
I’m with you - if the game is abandoned again then ManU will be punished with a points deduction I think.
