Mendy was stupendous but Coutois's saves may have been even more special, in the match context keeping his team's hopes alive until the last 5 minutes...
Because of Courtois it became a very nervy match for us. What with memories of last minute and overtime slip ups...

besides I'm fairly sure the pundits gave the outstanding Kante MOM.

Kante is always MOTM. That's why i discluded him

Just poor finishing. Mendy made full length super saves.

Mendy has been excellent for you. He clearly is not getting the credit he deserves after the car crash Kepa.

well said. He doesnt like the pissballing at the back either. Needs to be more vocal.

With his latest clean-sheet yesterday, Edouard Mendy will finish the season as the CL "Golden Glove" Winner (Ederson can only match his eight clean-sheets).

Same aura as Kante.
Humble background. Late bloomer. Difficult journey.
Goes about his business with efficiency, no fuss.
Influential at the back (akin to Kante transforming the midfield).
Easy to endear to.


Mendy has had to contend with an entirely different back 3/4 infront of him throughout...kept clean-sheets and looked secure (in CL & PL).

Reinforced my stance and belief that Mendy is the main difference-maker at the back and If we were to challenge for a trophy for the foreseeable, he's going to be central to that.
Exudes a certain degree of confidence into the backline.

Marvellous debut season!
