Do we think its effects will spill over into next season?
I mean there is the banter which we have all enjoyed from January till March but the overall picture is equally important as it shapes the progress curve for the teams in and around them particularly United and Arsenal.
The drop off is massive. They were Top at Christmas and could finish 7th. Out of the League Cup at home to Arsenal in the round of 16 in October
Out of the FA Cup away to united in the 4th round in January
Out of the Champions League to Real Madrid at quarters
Hardly the worst season from a top side but the drop off has been massive. A lot of the players that are not injured look shot of confidence, the injured ones may yet still struggle to adapt, A few ageing players aswell.
Even if they undertake a mini overhaul it may take Klopp another 2-3 season to get it right. I say 2 because it took him 4-5 seasons the first time but thats because he inherited a ridiculously poor squad but I think he may need another season or 2 to rebuild parts of the next liverpool side.
The biggest challenge will be the improvement of Chelsea, United and plausibly Arsenal. That makes it even harder as I feel City and Liverpool have won titles in a period where the traditional Top 6 have struggled.
They gambled in the 2018-2019 season, made no signings and managed to pick up a champions league, then did the same in 2019-2020 and picked up a league title.
How soon can they bounce back?
I actually think they will just about make Top , think Leicester will drop enough points but they are in a difficult position.
What looked like a golden period with possible domination could see the other teams around them invest and overtake them.
Must be gutting for their fans not that I feel sorry for them

How can that be described as "hardly from a top side"
Apparently Spurs are the worst team in the world
( according to media pundits and 95% of opposition fans, yet:
Are higher than Liverpool in the PL at present
Went further than Liverpool in the FA Cup
Went considerably further than Liverpool in the League Cup.
And only one round worst in Europe.
People perceptions can be a mystery at times.

Liverpool's cups buys them breathing space but it is funny how heavily criticised Spurs & especially Jose are when we all know they have under performed but we are far from being alone in that respect.
The decline of Liverpool has been far more striking. We are boring and negative but have scored more than them.
There are some parallels with Liverpool now and Spurs under Poch, the way that very good form and progress suddenly dropped off a cliff.

Finishing third isn't too bad for a horror season.

it was a good season, they had a horror period when they lost all those home games in a row but didnt have CBs for a lot of the season.

Hasn't aged yet. Nothing he said has been proved right nor wrong. That will be next season.
