Klopp

I know that this is going to be very controversial and I am hoping that my assertions are actually not true. However, the facts of the last few matches are undeniable. Phillips and Williams are competent enough in defence and should have been trusted a lot more in Jan/Feb with Fab and Hendo playing in midfield. I reckon we would have been a lot closer to City but we will never know. Does anyone think that Klopp made a huge error by shoving our best midfielders in defence and weakening the crucial part of our game with the press? I feel that Klopp made an error of judgement that has potentially cost us a title.

no, imo klopp got it right. the injuries were just too much to cope with. to me the bigger problem was mane's and firmino's goals drying up.

Very easy to sit here with hindsight and say he shouldve done this that or next thing. If he had played them 2 and we were in a similar situation wed all be screaming "why hasnt he mov3d fabinho back into defence".

Without looking i think our defensive record is in the top 3 or 4 in the league. We have wasted numerous chances at the other end of the field game after game and that has cost us. As I've said repeatedly on threads i dont know what klopp can do about that when world class forward players all of a sudden cant finish their dinners.

Phillps and williams have done ok together but have also made mistakes and been caught out. If they had played more often together I suspect that trend wouldve continued

I personally think he should have kept the midfield strong, we lost the shield the midfield offered the defence by moving Fab and Hendo back there.

Rhys has been good the last few games, Hes going to be good backup

Hindsight is 20/20.....klopp makes great decisions on the whole and nobody gets everything perfect. Its unlikely we'd find a better manager

Don't think he made a mistake in not starting Williams as he's still very raw, but do think he should have trusted Phillips sooner.

There's quite a few games in December and Jan that we drew 1-1 or lost 1-0 and he was on the bench.

Conceding a single goal is par for the course. Scoring 0-1 goal means you rarely win games.

The problem in those games was obviously in attack, not defence.

All connected though isn't it?

Take the 1-0 loss to Southampton for example, in that game we had a CB pairing of Hendo and Fabinho with Phillips sat on the bench. If Phillips plays then you can push Hendo into midfield which could have made an attacking difference.

Same with the 3-1 loss to Leicester, we had a CB pairing of Kabak and Hendo with Phillips on the bench.

The starting point for any true fan is to support the team which the manager and staff have put together for any game. The negative aspect of posts on here against both Nat and Reece are without merit in my view. Just because they’re ‘not as good as VvD and/or Joe’ at this stage in their respective careers shouldn’t be used as the paltry excuse to put them down.

Each have done their best so far. Each has made mistakes. So did Virgil and Joe, but they don’t get hammered.

Just cut the guys some slack people, they’re each the best we’ve got, they each deserve support, and, hopefully are rewarded contracts. Whether they take them or not is a matter for them.

Who played in midfield in those games?

And what about all the other games?

We were never ever on for the title.

People need to get that top as Christmas stuff out of their heads.

City were catching at a rate of knots and we were only ever on for about 70-75 points the way were were going.

For get the title this year. Klopp could have cost us the cl place with his lack of trust of players.
Lol

Hes got very very lucky that results have fallen in a away that decent form at the end can get him back in.

Another day and utd score 3 and it's all over. Phillips and kabak and williams are alright but nothing special.

I agree, we are talking swings and roundabout here. Newcastle and leeds draws after creating shedloads of chances show that.
