It's been suggested that Olivier Giroud may leave on a free in search of a team who will use his services. He now generally comes on as a super sub, and nearly always contributes. But he is low in Tuchel's pecking order.
He has been a great servant to the club, scoring vital goals, 11 this season from 12 starts, none more memorable than the spectacular goal against Atletico.
His experience has been vital for our all fronts battles. He has a great personality , always putting club before self.
At 34 some might say he is ageing for a striker. But I do not think he will have a problem staying at European top level football.
Obviously much depends on our success sourcing a 20 goal a season CF, long missing since Costa's departure.
Should we let him go?
Oliver

No player has changed my opinion more (in a positive sense) from before & after we signed him in my 25 or so years supporting Chelsea.
I do understand why Arsenal fans were so frustrated with him, he's not a #1 for a top club, but I honestly can't think of a backup I've rather have. Awesome old school target man. 100% deserves a CL winners medal

What exactly has Giroud contributed as a sub this season?
--------------
From his stats...4 goals from 6 sub appearances. For starters.
Not my words but Tuchel saying "if we are chasing a game against defensive play...Olivier is a good option".

I’ve no issue letting him go.

I sincerely believe that Olly has been a good honest pro with us,but we, as well as him must move on.
I think that he could still do a good job in the French league, which is his home, also he could/would demand a very healthy signing on fee over there.
So, best of luck Olivier, it's been good to know you.

Terribly mistreated and managed. Guy is expected to come on with 5 minutes left after not playing for a month and salvage something. Do I mind he’s not Starting? No. But his lack of game time had been poorly managed. I think subs need Atleast 15/20 minutes to make an impact

IF we win the Champions League next week, then his goal against Athletico is worth the admission fee alone. Been a great pro, he won stuff with us and will always be fondly remembered by the fans, but it's time for both of us as a Club and him as a player to move on. Thanks for the memories Olly.

3 goals in 13 sub appearances, 2 under Frank and 1 under Tuchel (I disregarded less than 10 min sub appearances).
His impact off the bench has been negligible this season.

I like him a person, he's been the consummate professional in his time with us and I see his value to the squad if we need a more direct approach to a target man if required.
But for me he's never been a regular 1st team player, his goal return isn't good enough to justify it and unless he scores I don't think his all round performances warrants it.
That said I'll miss him!

I'd concur with that Nick, 5 minutes is pointless if you're expecting someone to make an impact!

Unless it's Clive Walker Brum, who only needs 15 minutes or so to get a hat-trick or whatever it was.
