Jadon Sancho. Left or right?

I fully believe we have a great chance of getting the guy this summer as Liverpool seem to be targeting Mbappe and City seem to want Grealish. Dortmund will probably be open to dropping his price tag and we’ll probably pay it.

I’ve watched more German football than usual this season due to the time difference suiting me more than evening kick offs and what I’ve noticed is that Sancho has played loads on the left side and people who’ve worked with him have said that’s where he’s at his best. That’s not to say he’s bad on the right but is he another (good) version of Daniel James where his best apparent work is on the left?

It would be good to have someone to challenge Rashford (who has been given hugely unfair stick this season) on the left and perhaps give Greenwood more chances to start games on the right. Or we could go balls out and get Sancho for the left and Raphinha for the right.

Or would that be too sensible?

yet today we have a generation of supporters who believe we are entitled to continued success just because we are man United.
————-

Not a single person on here thinks we’re ‘entitled’ to success because we’re Manchester United. The difference between the periods of the past you talk of and today is that we are a financial juggernaut with huge resources and supporters are rightly allowed to expect a bit more than what we’re getting. And no, that doesn’t mean titles and CL’s every year. Just something more than owners happy to accept less than the best people for the job. And that isn’t just Ole. It’s from top to bottom. No one is gonna go out and jump off a cliff because of the current situation. It’s just football. But don’t think that just because I’m the far off past we went ages without winning anything that it should ever be accepted as the norm. Especially with the vast incomes this club generates.

When I say ‘dark ages’ I’m talking about a compatible period of time that Liverpool had in the 90’s. They had some fairly decent teams and some fairly decent managers but after what came before it was all an anticlimax. Much like what we have now.

How are Liverpool getting Mbappe?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I wouldn’t bet my mortgage on them getting him but he seemingly wants out of PSG and Real are broke and Liverpool apparently might have some funds to spend if they end up selling Salah or Mane.

Rashford peaked (and plateaued) over 2-and-a-half years ago at the 'very ordinary level' - and he really hasn't been "given unfair stick" at all. Indeed, his obvious ordinariness has been ignored and the hyperbole around him has just continued.

Don't get me wrong, there is nowt wrong with being an ordinary footballer - at whatever level one is playing - but to continue to select on the basis he'll improve/learn etc., is fallacious when it has long been evident that neither of those things are in his skill set. His presence is just filling out a slot that very easily could be filled with someone better. We'll probably never know how much a player like James could learn and improve because he hasn't been (and probably won't be) given the same ridiculous volume of opportunities that rashford has.

Even it wasn't to be James, Rashford is still taking a slot in the team that could very well be filled by someone whose a lot more effective. Indeed the club ALREADY has other players that are far more effective.

If new is to be bought in - and we have no idea if Sancho is to be that person - it's irrelevant if they are marginalised because the club is too scared to acknowledge that a product of the hyperbole - too often surrounding those from the academy - isn't up to it

Even if they don’t get Mbappe and Grealish (which they won’t) it doesn’t matter where we play him, they’re still finishing above us.

Not a chance in hell of them getting Mbappe. If he's out of contract next year, he'll just run it down and sign for Real then, for a very small compensation fee. That is if Real don't get him this summer

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Hazard. The guy seems finished and who would pay top dollar for him now?

Lukaku to Chelsea is imo gonna happen.

Nobody. They’ll have to loan him like they did with Bale.

Lukaku calling for it back to goal, neat ball in from Mount.
