on the Financially doped, chequebook, oil firm derby, that they now call the CL Final, what have we learnt? Well we have learnt that you can buy trophies if you throw enough at it.
Last five years spend
Chelsea £804.47 million
Man City £845.82 million
Total spend of the total clubs £1 billion 650 million.39. Add in the wages, and I suspect you won`t get much change out of two billion.
Of the game itself, it was very average, three shots on target by the two teams combined, not a save from either goalie. Lots of huffing and puffing, without any real quality. Not quite as bad as the Liverpool v Spurs final, but not that much better either.
Of the managers, Thomas Tuchel wins the CL, six months after PSG give him the push. Oh how they must be regretting that move now. Pep Guardiola continues to struggle to win the top prize without Lionel Messi in his team. Although to be fair he was very gracious in defeat.
Last night`s result was great news for Spurs, in so much that City will now be desperate for Harry Kane to join them, so Daniel Levy will now be licking his lips at knowing he can put another £50 million on the already mouth-watering asking price of probably in excess of £150 million, taking the fee for Kane now to way past £200 million. Even Daniel Levy will not turn down £200 million plus if City do indeed come running.
All in all money continues to rule the roost in football. But congratulations to Brentford on securing promotion to the Premier League. For the first time since 1947, they will play in the top flight. This gives me hope that not all is lost in football right now.
On another note, why is it that modern fans and players cry every time they lose a football match of any so called importance. I have noticed the snowflake generation of the 21st century seem to have cornered the market in crying over football matches. I cannot ever remember seeing fans or footballers crying back in the day (other than Gazza, oh and maybe Pele). Everybody needs to man up, and realise there are a lot more things to cry about than losing a football match.
London seems to become the hotbed of football right now. Chelsea winning the CL, Brentford back in the top division, and Spurs with the hottest striker in world football, Arsenal with the best comedy show in town. All looking good for the capital.
Anyway that`s season 2020/21 finished now. Move on to next season where who knows next year could be our year.
COYS
Well now that the dust has settled

At least you've got Brentford to compete with next season for the '4th Biggest Club In London Trophy'.
I tip you to win it as you're 1950's business model might prevail against a team that's not been in the top flight for 73 years

Boris's first comment since he stopped crying over last night. Couldn't even buy the CL.

Spending money doesn't give you trophies, it gives you the chance to compete for them. Chelsea still had to recruit, train, motivate and win many matches. Money isn't a given right to win

Funny then that since the lottery wins, both Chelsea and City have tripled their trophy wins.
If you think money has not had a part in both Chelsea and City getting their 21st century success, then I suggest you should get back to school.

Hardly an advanced economic model you've hit on there Sandy.
Speculate to accumulate rather giving it all to the owners and shareholders.

Chelsea's net spend in for the last 5 years is 133m - 26m per season.

LOL net spend.

Quite possibly the stupidest thing I have read, and I have read quite a few comments on the spuddling board so plenty to choose from

Look, it's not our fault your very own billionaire owner refuses to stump up whereas ours invests for success.
It's a Spursy kind of logic you've got here. You aren't some humble fan owned honourable club, you're just like us but crap.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Difference is our billionaire would have to use his own money, your billionaire is using other people`s money that he has thieved off of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So that's your issue is it? Source of wealth? Is that how far you have to look in order to try and claim some sort of moral superiority? So why all the other illogical bollix you're going on about then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfair playing field. A couple of financially doped clubs have over every other club. It`s like having a 100 metre race, with every competitor having both their legs tied together bar two. Guess who wins the race?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sandy has no faaaacking idea what he's talking about...... I repeat.......
Joe Lewis is just as much a thief as Abramovic.
Ambramovic stole state owned assets when the regime collapsed, Lewis stole other people's money in trading on British currency collapse.
They are both thieves.
In fact Lewis probably has some of Sandy's money, but Sandy is too dumb to know it!
Whereas Ambramovic stole his money from the Russian people.
