Attack: Kane
Midfield: Hojbjerg
Defence: ????????
GK: Lloris
I'm trying to be realistic with our summer targets..maybe our team is just 2 CBs away from challenging.
Milenkovic and Anderson/Romagnoli shouldn't cost more than 70m in total. I would prefer to buy 2xCBs for 70m than get fleeced for Skriniar at 60m. We need more than Skriniar.
Top class spine of a team...

PEH needs to follow Jordan Henderson's example of two season's ago but ultimately he needs another solid CM next to him. Not sure if Skipp will be ready. GLC has a question marks over him and maybe better in the CAM position. Will it be Sabizter? He is good enough?

Henderson at least had Fabinho, PEH has Sissoko and Winks. We have no other tacklers very sad situation for a team that played 50 plus games.
This is the mistake Jose made for me. When you dont have tacklers you need to keep the ball and out pass the opposition.
We definitely need another complete, energetic midfielder next to PEH.

Not sure if Sabitzer is a tackler. Seems more like a more a European Lo Celso.

Hojberg is bound to have made more passes and made more tackles given that he played every game and subsequently more minutes.
He is a decent enough player but not outstanding, he absolutely has a place in the squad but we also need a better all round player to come in also. Hojberg was over played and maybe that affected some of his perfomances, but at times he was poor and does not get around the pitch well enough, he lacks the pace to be a DM in the mold of the best like Kante.

Hojberg is far from top class, he is a decent squad player, and was a Levy cheapo special signing. He is not mobile enough for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Top class not world class...who are the better DMs in the prem? If you can name 6 better then fair enough. Hojbjerg had no support all season. I rate him. Just wish he had a decent CM to share the tackling. Lo Celso and Ndombele are not DMs they both play like inside lefts/rights
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I said the other day PEH is a water carrier, a decent but not outstanding footballer who is more than happy to tackle hard and help out the defence as much as anything else - and often teams need these kind of players. But you can have the best of both worlds, players that are capable of winning the ball and affecting the game going forward - look at Dembele as a familiar example. You’d certainty rather have Kante, Ndidi, maybe even Bissouma ahead of PEH given the option. Rodrigo. Henderson? Maybe even Soucek if you could class him as that sort of player. I like PEH, but there are levels in football, in any sport, and if you want to be the best you have to be ruthless in replacing decent with good, and good with better. If we could have a central midfield of Tielemans, Ndidi and Ndombele then I’d fack Hoijberg and GLC off first thing tomorrow - and this isn’t unachievable, these are Leicester City players we’re taking about, not Barcelona with Xavi & Iniesta. Never a accept mediocrity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think it’s accepting mediocrity. Hojbjerg is absolutely a top class DM and could walk into most PL teams.
Using the midfielders you mentioned:
Hojbjerg had the same amount of assists as both of them (4)
Completed more passes than both of them
Completed more tackles than both of them
More goals than Ndidi (but less than Tielemans admittedly)
So what metric are you using to decide Hojbjerg isn’t good enough but they both would be?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Hojbjerg is very decent, and you don't get to play every minute of every Prem game if not. His main problem is that he is surrounded by bog standard creative midfielders. Get some better creative midfielders in and you have a top player in Hojbjerg, doing all the graft.

Yeah I agree with this, I think Hojbjerg has suffered a bit by having such mediocrity next to him. I do agree with Ace in a sense that he is limited - he’s a defensive midfielder; so he’s not going to go on my rampaging runs/score a great deal of goals etc. But that’s generally the nature of a defensive midfielder.

That is it 100 per cent, he is a defensive midfielder, so will not be rampaging forward scoring lots of goals. He is there to do a job, not to be supplying all the bullets for the forwards, that should be the job of the attacking midfielders.

Sandy is actually right about Hojbjerg, except that he's not a "defensive midfielder", he's an all round midfielder. But he's played every damned minute.
Lo Celso and Winks are more of a question...notice how deep Kane has been playing!
The problem is the back four...complete new defense needed.
