Trippier or Dalot?

We’ve been linked with Trippier in the media lately.

Would he be a good signing or should we give Dalot who is almost a decade younger another season to show his worth?

While I don’t think it’s top priority I do think competition and an alternative for AWB would be no bad thing.

It’s hard to imagine the fee we would pay for Trippier and the fee we would get for Dalot would be hugely different.

Who would you rather see in our squad next season?

Does Trippier even want to leave Atletico, has he said he wants to return to England or something? I've not seen where the links have come from tbf.

The rumour is he wants to move back home, he’s from Bury. He’ll be 31 in September and has two years left on his contract, so he’s unlikely to get a new one from Atleti. A move home and a last big contract makes sense from his perspective. Plus apparently him and his family are all United fans apparently.

Fair enough, I think for the right price he'd be a good addition to the squad to compete/rotate with AWB and offer a different style of game from our RB in certain matches. Cavani would certainly prefer him at RB than AWB for his crossing.

Would hopefully lead to an improvement from AWB too by way of having real competition like Shaw has seen this season.

It's a signing we should make if it's fairly straight forward, and not costing the earth, but not one I'd focus on for long as we have far more pressing issues.

Yeah I’m with you on that. If we get him and Sancho all of a sudden our right hand side looks a completely different prospect in attack.

Maybe a swap deal can be done with Dalot

Not sure Dalot would be wanted by Simeone.

I’m sure Simeone could turn him into a defensive midfielder.

I don’t mind Dallot, He is probably an improvement on the right when we are playing against defensive teams.

Trippier would be a terrible transfer. He is slow. Last thing we need is more slow defenders.

Trippier at his age is just another stop gap. The exact type of signing united keep making. Paying over the odds, with no resell value and a short window of their career left. Makes no sense tbh.

We don’t usually sign players over 30. Zlatan, Cavani and Schweinsteiger are the only outfield players that we’ve signed (back up keepers aren’t really the same). Trippier isn’t the type of signing we keep making. Cavani and Zlatan were useful players as well. Trippier does make sense for us.
