Recently when N. Ireland defeated the mighty Malta, a country with 25% approx. the population of N. Ireland, it was described as a "convincing win".
So what?
Now that N. Ireland has been beaten by Ukraine, which has approximately 4 times the population of N. Ireland, it is being described as something like a learning experience...."greater patience needed"?
Malta is a beautiful place and not really known for it's football prowess. On the other hand, against a country that has many who play football, N. Ireland failed to score and had only 33% approx. possession in the game!
Heard this song before" "We're getting better except when we play experienced teams". Did these two games really tell us anything about the status of the N. Ireland team? No more SPIN please,

Ukraine has a population of 44 million and NI a pop of 1.85 million.I think that's a tad more than 4 times the population

Mea culpa!....should have read/said 24 times. However, the salient point was the lack of candor in assessing the true status of this team.
