50 goals in all comps that year, 49 in the league nicknamed pongo. that was fun and all in 20 seconds.

Everybody does, it is well documented how many goals Dixie Dean scored in his career which spanned the 20s and 30s. Dixie Dean scored 379 league goals, and it is in the records, but all you ever hear about is the Shearer record. Same with Jimmy Greaves, his total never gets mentioned either.

Ian rush for example 233 league goals with only 2 penalties......he basically played in the same era as Shearer. Bryan Robson....wonderful.midfielder with a great goal record.


Its absurd, your history is important. Imagine we renamed the league and didnt discuss Henry, Shearer etc anymore in the record books.


In 1993 did they say 'so and so is the all time leading scorer with 27 goals' .......

Imagine la liga became the Spanish premier league and Ronaldo/Messi's name arent mentioned when discussing leading/best goalscorers or players etc.

When people Google Premier League records and are shocked to find that those records apply to the Premier League, I always question their intelligence somewhat....

Before it was PL records it was mainly post war records.
Won't be too long before it is 21st century records.
Really don't see the issue tbh.
