Just understand why all these top end professional athletes don’t have full and extensive medical check up annually.
It takes 15mins to do a stress ECG heart test and costs a few hundred quid, likewise a full blood screen is pence
I remember many years ago Terry Yorath’s son suddenly dropping dead of a congenital heart condition. He was 15-16 yrs old and apprentice footballer at Leeds. It took years of campaigning to get a simple ultrasound screening done of these lads, which may have prevented his death. Again costing £300 per test

Now if THAT is true...is it?....then COVID could certainly have had an effect. Effects on heart and brain have been documented.
But I agree that thorough annual medical checkups should be mandatory for top class footballers.

Volpi added that Eriksen never contracted COVID-19, has no medical conditions that he’s aware of and has passed every medical exam without problem since joining Inter in January 2020 from Tottenham.

Clubs do heart checks every year and do strenuous tests to force show any minor issues.

Clubs are not at fault, they’re doing their best to detect issues.

Cool thaught I'd read somewhere he had.

While it was probably playing football that caused this it probably happened him in the best place possible if that makes sense. At least he had immediate help and care.

He was lucky the referee was an intelligent fellow and spotted a real problem quickly.
I think it is a warning to players to stop faking injuries because if their turn ever comes, they may not have such a good ref on the field.

Yes but you’re not gonna hang around a hospital just in case this happens. My point was the best place for this to happen was on a pitch with thousands watching rather than at home alone.
