Terrible from Southgate. Should never have gone to penalties against these ageing dinosaurs but Southgate proved many of us right - he's a cowardly manager.

Well done Italy - you were brave.

Can’t miss 3 f*cking penalties though, especially when your keeper saves two!

Apart from the first 20minutes we just played too deep and invited Italy on to us. Shoukd have brought Grealish on as soon as they equalised and kept Rice on.
It's all ifs and buts but Southgate's overly cautious approach cost us. Maybe Quatar will be our time.
Unlucky boys good effort but big opportunity missed.

Every tournament has been a progression.

Safegate made some basic errors:

He showed too much faith in Saka and Mount. Henderson is clearly not fit and should have been nowhere near the squad.
He waited too long to make changes 2nd half when everybody could see an Italy equalizer coming.
He failed to select a midfield capable of keeping the ball.
Most of the penalty takers were too inexperienced.

On a side note, Italy are a team of shiethouses and Jorginho was inexplicably let off a clear red card.

I wonder does anyone have an explanation on how MAson Mount gets talked about as if he is a good player and how he manages to start for England?
Truly awful the entire tournament - the epitome of a media creation.
