Failing to plan is planning to fail...
There were a few of us who were disappointed with Jose getting sacked and wanted him to be the man to lead the rebuild, gut the squad and bring in players that shared his mindset.
This wasn't because we thought that he had done an amazing job, far from it. It was because he had the experience and pedigree and quite frankly, there was no way that we would be able to get a replacement manager that could match him with the way we are structured and the position that we are in.
Now that we are in the middle of this process, where do people now stand? 3/4 months ago the Jose out crowd were in full force, is this still the case? I ask because sometimes we let our emotions get the better of us and want to make a decision in the short term that will put us in a worse position in the long term and looking at this mess it seems to be playing out that way.
I also want to state that this process is far from done. We may find that Gattuso is actually the manager we need and actually gets the best out of our squad. I can't see it to be honest as I think he'll clash with Levy... But we should not write him off. My question is more about how things stand currently.
We could see this coming...

The problems started with appointing Jose in the first place, not sacking him. As predicted, that appointment was a bad fit and ended in disaster. At the time Poch was removed we should’ve been more proactive in our forward planning. For me there’s an argument that Poch should’ve stayed, and been allowed to complete the rebuild he’d only just started, he had earned it. But, at the very least, we should’ve brought in a manager then of a similar ilk that could’ve continued his work on the foundations he’d laid, such as Nagelsmaan, rather than tearing up five years development and going for a quick fix like Jose just because Levy was cacking his pants about missing out on top 4.

Yep an appalling appointment which has set the club back at least 5 years. Chelsea can make these mistakes we cant and if we do there had better be a long term fix brewing to fix it which sadly there isnt

It seems to me now that breaking back into that top 4 we'll be seen more as a bonus to Levy than a priority over the next few years. The squad needs huge investment, there's not much knocking about in the academy. No champions league revenue and draw to improve the squad to the levels it needs. It'll all be about consolidating now. Levy simply didn't invest at the right time

There is very little to like about Tottenham Hotspur Football Club at the moment...
Uninterested owner
Nauseating and incompetent chairman
No coherent plan for appointing a new manager
A new DoF with close connections to parasitic agents
Little connection between owners and fans
The ESL fiasco
Furloughing staff
A paltry 2 League Cups in 30 years
An increasingly toxic fan base
Star player wants out due to lack of ambition
Ridiculed by the media
Etc
Etc

You missed one out...
Bitter fans

The only way the team gets anything like a meaningful rebuild now is by selling Kane and reinvesting the profits.

Which is why getting the right coach that fits the bill is so important. I'm amazed he can't see that.

I think we’re at a stage where we have to accept reality. Of the remaining options I would go straight to Potter, pay what’s needed to bring him to WHL, accept that Kane wants out, get a reasonable deal for him - £125m seems realistic. Potter to work with Paratici on bringing in some quality (not quantity) to improve our squad with the profits from Kane + selling deadwood. Lamptey and Bissouma from Brighton with Potter would immediately improve us. Skriniar via Paratici, Anderson, find a striker, get cracking on pre season. This has dragged on too long.

I couldn’t agree with this more. Unfortunately this simply will not happen with levy. Next season is a write off people. We have so much to do in the close season. But we are way too far behind now to get it done. I think the next three years will be mid table or Europa at best. Maybe if Enic sort their sh 1t out and get the structure in place where we beat the likes of Leicester to players like kante, Maddison etc then in three or four years we might get back close to where we were under Poch.
I’m the meantime I feel sorry for those paying the highest prices for utter mediocrity

I think the issue is we cannot announce anything.
I’m 99.9 percent sure it’s Roberto Martinez but we are not allowed to announce because of Belgium’s euros.
Levy even alluded to it the other day that he is fed up of all the rumours.
Think of it another way there isn’t a big name out there we can get by leaking all the rumours roberto Martinez suddenly becomes a bit more palatable with no uproar.
We always have a plan. Always there’s no way we sacked Jose without it.
