I genuinely don’t care if England win or lose 😂 but from a neutral perspective it would seem you need someone with pace and directness working off Kane coming back into a deeper role (kinda like a Kane/Son partnership for Spurs). You’d think Sterling would be that guy but he has a tendency to make runs and when he gets the ball he cuts back and hesitates which must be frustrating AF for every England fan. Sancho is becoming the forgotten man with a lot of fans but there’s every chance he signs for us and becomes the star many think him to be. Safegate has this guy in the squad yet won’t use him. That is bizarre and who knows, he could be the player who lights up the tournament. I’m sure plenty of Dortmund supporters are bemused at his lack of game time.

Southgate is a clown I agree. As I said earlier, he worked on this game plan since the first training camp. I don’t think he has the capacity or will to change it.
So he is more likely change personal than setup. I’m not saying Grealish or sancho is better suited for those roles. But They will most likely receive the ball in similar positions if played. And they are more capable of creating chances from those positions.

And I don’t get that logic. Grealish doesn’t run past the defence to receive the ball, nor would you want Sancho to receive the ball with his back to goal, they’re even less suited to receiving the ball in those positions.
If they play, he’ll utilise them differently.

Well he's not starting. Another manager that just doesn't get it.

Why? you already agreed that the Sterling and Foden doesn’t suit the roles given to them.
So why do you think he will have to change the entire game plan to accommodate two different players who’s roles wouldn’t suit them.

That first half proves the point. Biggest change is the full backs and what a surprise, space in the middle and Sterling’s role doesn’t need to change.

Had he put Grealish into the Sterling role rather than the Mount one, it would have needed an even bigger change. He’s also changed Saka’s role on the other side as Phillips is staying deeper.
