Below are just some of my own personal highlights of our 20/21 season. Our most exciting season in years saw us go top of the table against all odds and finally take that step past a semi final as a team. The list below is not in order, as I found it too hard to try and do that when we had such a good campaign. A year of progress.
1) Comeback Kings
No team in the Premier League last season won more points from losing positions than us. That tells you everything you need to know about the character of our players and also how strong we are as a group. Some of the comebacks will live long in the memory, like West Ham and Newcastle with the late rally. We never say never anymore, it feels like that fighting spirit is back under Ole and it's great.
2) The Entertainers
United 9 Southampton 0
United 6 Leeds 2
United 5 Leipzig 0
Far too often I hear our fans criticize how boring we apparently are as a team. The usual accusations are thrown around: what's the style of play? Why are we so negative? What is the philosophy? Strange then, that in 20/21 we saw some of our best football in years with goals flying in left right and centre. I rest my case with those results. That's entertainment!
3) Unbreakable Away
The Premier League is without a doubt one of the most unforgiving leagues in the world. Yes it's over marketed by Sky but the competition itself is uncompromising, so the fact we were untouchable away from home in 20/21 is outrageous. We stood up to every single test on the road, be it Anfield, The Etihad, Stamford Bridge and more but still managed to avoid defeat. I am a bit surprised the EPL didn't formally recognize this unbeaten run, as Arsenal got a golden PL trophy for their 38 games without a loss. Obviously I am not saying we should receive a golden PL trophy for it, but some sort of recognition would be nice. Perhaps a different type of trophy or award for the team?
4) European Memories
PSG 1 United 2
Milan 0 United 1
United 4 Istanbul 1
United 6 Roma 2
Our route to the EL final was certainly a memorable one, with some impressive results along the way. Shame to lose on penalties in the final but life goes on. Great to see we are being noticed in European football again though, in a more serious manner, I remember when we beat PSG with a late Marcus goal just how much the world stood up and took notice of us again. We are on the right track.
5) Ole Breaks Klopp
Liverpool 0 United 0
United 3 Liverpool 2
Going into the game at Anfield in January was a huge test for us. It is important to remember that back in January, Liverpool were used to winning every game at Anfield and had been imperious there for years. A lot was riding on it, if we managed to avoid defeat we stayed top and if they beat us they went level with us at the summit. What followed was a masterclass by United as Liverpool were contained, nullified and then shut down by our tactics. The biggest frustration was that barring two wonder saves by Alisson we win 2-0. Typical that a few weeks later when City went there he played in exactly the opposite manner and handed MCFC the game. It shouldn't be forgotten that after we stopped them scoring at Anfield, they failed to do so for the next several league games and slid down the table. Let's be clear: the draw we got at Anfield finished them off in the EPL title race and reaffirmed our dominance back above them. The game a few weeks later at Old Trafford just confirmed what we already knew: Ole had broken Klopp.
6) Punching above our weight
At the start of the campaign people had written us off for the top four and it was widely predicted that Ole would be sacked. What followed after our bad start was something special, as we fought above our weight and entered the title race when we had no real right to. Now that the players have had a taste of being top of the league, it may just spur us on to take that final step forward and win it. We did the same in the summer of 1992 and it feels eerily similar now. We are just a player or two away and I have faith that we will get the right ones this summer.
I will do a season preview soon.

People just need to chill out on here. Arguments achieve nothing most of the time...

No one is arguing.

Still no reasonable explanation VC as to why you insist Culer isnt Robb
----------------------------------------------------------------------
All Robbs accounts have had Robb in the pseudonym as far as I know. And the style is completely different.
It's only my opinion of course.

I wonder what clue in that one might suggest it was Robb. He didn't deny it was him either.

Yes I thought there was but couldn't remember it.
Still don't think it's Robb.
But really it's a daft thing to be talking about, especially as I have a view of the Eiffel tower at the moment.
Admittedly a way off and to one side!

I believe the writer Guy de Maupassant used to like to dine at the Eiffel Tower's restaurant because it was the only place in Paris from where he could not actually see the tower.
