Fifty million, the last five of which may be add on's depending on who you believe. Personal terms are already agreed. Just got medicals to go.
He's being bought as a direct replacement for David Luiz, whose distribution was essential to our build up.
I'm aware of Saliba, and nobody rates him more than me, but could we please not have this thread just be a moan about not playing him? Rightly or wrongly (wrongly), he's not considered ready/good enough and we should be judging Ben White on his own merits.
Have to add this tweet:

White Holding Chambers. A potential Arsenal back 3, and also what you get thrown into if you say you’re English .

Unless we've got unlimited cash then £15m would be about right. Any higher and the club should walk away

50million for the future England captain is a bargain.

One thing it ain’t, is a bargain.

If, as we all hope, he’s a success at the club, he could end up playing for us for 6-7 years. The fee becomes less of a problem. Who knows, in a couple of years time he could look like a steal.
All depends how well he does in the end. Only time will tell.

On the plus side it looks like you are throwing some money around. Need a few more signings to turn it around, but the budget might be there…

Ball playing is all well and good but isn't he like 5ft 9? If he is being played at right back, couldn't we get cheaper? I'm not sure this is the necessity. If we have a decent midfield then the defence we have now would suffice.

Well that's something at least. Definitely over paying but if an upgrade on Holding/Chambers as current RCB options then good business for me provided this is only the beginning of summer rebuild

Interesting signing, no way to know whether it's clever business until we see the rest of our business at the end of the summer.
I'm thinking surely even we can't be this stupid so we must have a fair bit of money to spend this summer?

I agree that £50m seems high but keep in mind you pay a premium for English players!

50 m in 2021 for a player that you may have for 5-6 years is not bad at all. And it's not our fecking money! damned if they spend, damned if they dont
