There is no grand scheme in football... just ask team France, there's only the game in front. England v Germany will always be a big game in the clear majority of British thinking, because of the drama that come with this fixture even in non consequential friendly matches.

Besides looking at the media coverage and endless discussions on this and other websites about this match.... you are having a laugh saying what you just said.... you can't be that comatose not to feel the national hysteria that accompanied this match.

Very relaxed about last night`s game. I fully expected England to win over a very poor German side, certainly one of the worse of my lifetime. The game itself was very poor, two very average sides, one of whom had to win. England have a world class striker though, which makes a big difference.

I am to old in the tooth to get overly excited about a single knockout win. I may do if they actually win the tournament.

Tom Finney was considered world class for a number of years, never won a trophy. So don`t quite get your point. Same with Stanley Matthews, won just one trophy. Plenty of very modern average players hoover up trophies for fun. It is the way it is in the modern game. Just depends if you are at one of the financially doped clubs, as to whether you win trophies most of the time.

Harry is absolutely world class.

But he has not been playing like one AT ALL in this tournament so far and even YOU must be able to see that.
His 3 yard header, 5 mins from time, when the opposition are pressing for a equaliser, hasn't changed that he has been poor so far.

Geoff Hurst hadn`t done anything up until the QFinals at the 1966 WC, and now everybody in world football has heard of him.

Judging a player on a few groups games is not how it works.

Kane has been no better or worse than any other player in the England team if the truth be told.

Or, Kane followed another poor performance by adding to the score already made by England top scorer Sterling.
