Renato Sanchez

If the whole Paratici-Espirito Santo-Mendes alliance is more than just press speculation and will really be a thing, the one realistically gettable player I would like from the Mendes stable is Renato Sanchez. He seems to have put his Bayern-era problems and loss of confidence behind him, had a very decent season with Lille in which they won the league, and showed some real flashes of brilliance at the Euros.

He’s still only 23, I don’t think his wages would be beyond our reach, has grown into a really tactically and positionally disciplined player, and for me at least would be a significant upgrade on the likes of Winks and Sissoko.

That is super harsh on Ndombele.

Ndombele was playing really well until Mason decided to play his mates ahead of him... Mad!

Ndombele is in another galaxy compared to Renato Sanches. If ever he leaves Spurs, I guarantee you he will be upgrading to a huge club. He's a brilliant, brilliant player that's had a tough time with a switch of managers, a new country and Covid to deal with.

Personally I wouldn't go near Sanches either. Sure he was young at Swansea but he clearly found the physicality difficult. He also seemed very much a confidence player who's form depended a lot on his surroundings and happiness. He may be super confident now surrounded by his countrymen but take him out of his comfort zone in a country he didn't settle in before and he could turn out to be a total waste of money.

I don't think he offers anything we don't already have. The truth is that there aren't many teams in European football that sit 7th and in a terrible Europa competition that can boast Kane, Son, Ndombele or Lo Celso. These are CL players. No doubt about it. then you have the Hojbjergs, Tobys and players on that level. Anyone we buy will be who we can lure based on our current position. CL players won't want to know so we're better off keeping the ones we have rather than selling our stars and starting again.

Even Sanches might turn his nose up. That's where we are.

Ndombele for sure has a really high ceiling, and in flashes he shows it, I’m just not sure he has the application or the fitness to fulfil his potential. Also in my original post I didn’t suggest we look at Sanchez as a Ndombele replacement, but if Sissoko and Winks go as is possible, he would make for a great addition.

This would be such a meme signing

I was thinking exactly the same thing, watching Portugal play. He's a fine attacking midfielder now.
But plays for Lille, who just won the French League 1. So may not be so easy to get. Levy of course will be the tripping stone.
