According to Sassuolo's CEO Carnevali, we are the only club to make "an official" bid for the player so far. He claims we are pushing hard with an important bid, but Sassuolo have a special relationship with Juventus and are scheduled to sit down with them soon.
I can't imagine that we are close to Locatelli's first choice when Juventus and Dortmund are our main rivals for the player, but he would be something of a coup. Of course, any signing comes with risks and they are amplified when it's a player in another league, but he is statistically a massive upgrade on Xhaka. A midfield base of Locatelli and Partey could be the start of something special for us. Hope we pull it off.

Good player but the Premiership is a graveyard for Italian strikers. There's not been that many really I guess. I can't really think of one that has ever done exceptionally well bar Ravanelli and Zola.

Haven't really seen Locatelli play much (apart from watching a few Italy games at the Euros where he's been very good). Will he really be that good for us week-in, week-out in a fast-paced PL? He seems to have a lot of hype around him.
