of all of the restrictions on the 19th July. I personally think it is a very risky strategy, with cases doubling week on week, and liable to be close to 100,000 by the end of the month, with that will no doubt come more hospitalisations, and sadly more deaths.
I have only just started to venture back onto public transport again, but with mask wearing not now being made compulsory after the 19th of July, I think I will take a step back again, and see how it goes for the next month or so.
Yes, I know the country has to open up eventually, but not sure now is exactly the time to through all restrictions in the bin, just so that everyone can enjoy the summer free from restrictions.
Reading between the lines from the medical and scientific experts, it seems they are wholly opposed to people throwing away their masks, or not properly socially distancing, and I would say it is almost certain that we will all be back in some kind of lockdown by winter time again.
Vaccine has been a big success, but Britain still has more Covid infections apparently than the whole of Europe combined, so whilst the vaccine does seem to be doing its job, it is not a 100 per cent certainty that you will not catch Covid, even if double jabbed.
This definitely looks to me like a Political decision, rather than a medical or scientific one. And going from the previous political decisions, may not end that well. It does seem rather reckless to tell people to ditch masks with an ever rising infection rate.
I was hoping to purchase a ticket for the Manchester game, but I may have a rethink, if the infections are still rising come August. Cannot se the point of putting myself in any kind of danger over a game of footie, as much as I may want to attend.
What`s everyone`s take on the lifting

Most afflicted countries are clustered around the 1-2k per 1m population deaths total. Peru is an outlier. UK is 17th in the table.

As I said Japan a similar size island with twice the population has nearly 100,000 less deaths.

New York population 8.5m - 33,000 deaths
Florida population 21m - 37,000 deaths
Florida also had the loosest restrictions in America and arguably the world and New York the toughest restrictions
You are just picking comparisons that back up what you say Sandy mate and disregarding ones that don’t lol

I am picking countries that are of similar size to the UK. Most with vastly larger populations. But have all handled it better. There have been some catastrophic mistakes made by this Government during the Pandemic.

I agree with Sandy, lifting of restrictions is premature.
There is now a new variant of COVID that is reported to bypass the vaccines.
Anyways...my prediction.......restrictions will reappear when the politicians are forced to do it.
And that will probably be by September.

Life has to get back to normal, COVID will be here forever but we can not be under restrictions forever, soon everybody will be vaccinated and other than that there is not a lot more anybody can do
Anybody worried can still follow social distancing, practice good hygiene, wear a mask etc. People need to apply common sense and look out for each other as well as themselves.
Nobody will be forced out into close contact with lots of others, that will remain their own personal choice. No other government would have done any better or be doing any different, the same scientists would be advising them.

Open up again asap.
This scam has clearly shown to be far from 'apocalyptic' and everyday more are seeing through their lies.
Time to call their bluff.

Exactly. The strong will survive and nature, as it always has done, will cull the weak. If you’re fit and healthy you have nothing to worry about. If you’re a lazy fat barstard with diabetes and heart failure then sorry, but your time is up, on your bike.

This.
With bells on.
