Southgate

Even if England had won the penalty shootout, his approach to football is embarrassing.

With the talent he has at his disposal, he should have won this tournament, playing champaign football. Entertainment is a big factor in this sport, without it, it's just a bunch of regular folk celebrating rich people, winning gold plated medals.

His cowardly tactics are a bore to watch and I'm sure the only reason anybody ever tunes in to watch this type of football is because of the emotional attachment they have for their team.

The worst part of this final were Southgates contradictions, in regard to his approach to playing the younger squad members. He said this after the first two games:

As the pressure grows, Southgate has revealed why he has yet to give Sancho a taste of the action.

“We’ve got some explosive options and a lot of them are young players and experiencing a big tournament for the first time. So as a coaching staff we are realistic about our expectations of them as individuals"

He then decides to bring on Sancho for the biggest pressure penalty he'll ever likely experience in his career. Let's not even talk about allowing 19 year old Saka to take the 5th penalty, while a multitude of experienced players just watched on from the sidelines.

Lastly, Mount over Grealish? Wtf is all that about? It seems like the reason for Englands failure, will be the FA's choice in manager...AGAIN!

Pretty much agree with all of this.

What worries me.most is how can he and his coaches can stand there watching and think, yeah, this is working.

Grealish has largely done nothing. Well except dive around. I think people forget that

I also think his decision to bring on Sancho and Rashford after 119 minutes just to take a pen was very disrespectful.

Southgate bottled it big time. Trying to defend a 1 nil lead from 2nd minute hardly ever works. Every time I have seen Utd try and do this it goes wrong. It's just too long to sit back and give up possession.

We had the tools to get a 2nd and maybe a third against Italy had we gone for them but the coward in charge was too scared and got what he deserved.

He found a way to lose a game we could and should have won. I hope he is replaced.

Unfortunately even though it gave us all a life to get to a final and dreaming of England success the simple fact is we failed to take advantage of a favourable draw and home advantage.

Truth be told we didn't use our flair players enough and played a mostly bang average style of football that bored our opponents into submission.

I can't see anything changing and Southgate will be rewarded by the FA with a contract extension and the media will completey go O. T. T licking his derriere and lauding him as a fantastic coach.

Putrid vomit Inducing celebrities and ex pro's will give their backing to nice chap Southgate and be complicit in this blind faith in a tactically dislexic individual who just does not have a pro active bone in his body and ensure England fail to fulfil their potential yet again after being graced with possibly the greatest set of young exxciting talent we have ever had but sadly not utilised by a very cautious negative thinking man.

Our only hope is Southgate is seduced by an overinflated salary from some other club daft enough to think Southgate will win them stuff.

I think he is a decent bloke and would be suitable for a bottom 6 Premier club wishing to survive but not the right man to win an International tournament with his overly defensive set ups.

Time will tell and if I'm wrong I will gladly eat humble pie but I think sadly we all know we are saddled with this guy for at least 3 or 4 more years and so 3 or 4 more years of disappointment and underachievement.

If we'd have played oysters in defence and shi1akes up front I'd have accepted a few closed cup decisions
