Coco - a tribute

A player that has divided our fanbase perhaps more than any other in recent years.

Brought in as part of the Magnificent Seven when Bale left, Lamela perhaps carried the most expectation as he was seen/hoped to be the direct Bale replacement, and carried a fairly hefty price tag (for the time, and for our transfer history). A bit of a cruel expectation to be placed on his shoulders, as he was never in the same league as Bale, and not even the same type of player.

Early on he was a bit of a fancy Dan and not much else. Some flashes of skill here and there. But as time went by, we saw more of the 'dark arts' from Lamela; winding the opposition up, niggly fouls, reckless tackles....he was the ultimate $h!thouse player at times. But he also retained the skills to produce flashes of brilliance, but sadly these were all too rare. Combined with challenging Darren Anderton for time spent on the treatment table; Lamela never really delivered to the level we would have hoped. But I'd argue didn't fall quite as short as some fans claim.

He gave us some truly brilliant moments. Coco, I salute you!

What's your Lamela highlight (cue someone saying "his transfer to Seville"....)?

Loved Coco, loved his passion and commitment to the badge and I loved his shiethousery also.

He was unfortunate with injury but provided some memorable moments, rabona's were great and calling Wheelchair a pu55y and severing Cesspits hand will live long in the memory.

Good luck Erik

Sad that it felt like half the time he was with us he was injured

It will be interesting to read the comments if/when Winks leaves and a similar article is posted.

I’m happy to also write a tribute article to Winks.

To be honest I don’t have much against Winks. He’s a Spurs product. And the latest in a long line of ‘limited midfielders’ that we’ve been producing for years.

He’ll look much better in a slightly lesser team.

He was responsible for the leaks?!?

I like Winks and we had some great moments with him up until that injury and he regressed outrageously. Was very decent around the 18/19 season.
