This is a competition where unless a decent team drops out of the Europa, the only teams it is acceptable to lose to are Roma, Feyenoord and Basel, and we’re a lot better than the latter 2. People might say that’s arrogant, but look at who is in this and compare it to the league cup, the league cup will be far more difficult.

I do feel like we are destined to get knocked out by Roma at some point with Mourinho really rubbing it in.

Money, simple as.

There's absolutely no respect for this competition, rightfully so.

But we're in it, these are the cards we're dealt. Let's try and win it.

Match fitness for benchwarmers, first team experience for youngsters. Depending how deep we go in other cups we could have very few games this year.

The amount Poch was critisiced for not taking cups seriously. If we're in it, let's try and win it.

It was designed to give the European cannon fodder extra time in Europe rather than getting bludgeoned in the Europa - a bit like the nations league.

The problem is it will distort the smaller leagues even more as the the top teams from say the Bulgarian league will now generate additional revenue by playing more European games and getting further in the competition, allowing them to buy anyone half decent domestically from their rivals.

From a Spurs point of view, we either win it and get no credit, lose to Roma, Feyenoord or Basel and get the pizz taken out of us by the usual suspects, or lose to one of the really pony sides and get the pizz taken out of us by everyone - even West Ham
