Hes been much maligned in the past but his preseason and this first game has shown that hes still a valuable player for us. I think thats 22 goals since he joined us, from left back that is a good return. puting it into perspective Ashley Cole scored 15 for us in 350 games approx, whereas Alonso has amassed his total in just over a third of that amount.

He's an odd one...Sarri liked him, Frank didn't, seems TT does
Most fans are generally meh with him...

It’s incomparable. Alonso has played as a wingback and is good at free kicks. Should barely be mentioned in same breath as Cole.

Works in this system, albeit he's quite frustrating with his constant backwards passing.
He's very good technically and one of the best finishers at the club lol

Hes a good defender against whoever we have attacking on the left in front of him. He makes sure they never get the ball.

His all round game seems to have stepped up a bit, though we've seen it before in the odd game he seems to have a bit of consistency. Must admit I'm waiting fir a lapse but long may it continue.
Plus Chalobah is not doing himself any harm.

As said, it isn’t. He plays in a completely different system and is good at set pieces.
