1. Tanganga showed a real desire and pure grit from minute one. His attitude today was exactly what our back four has lacked in the last two years. His attitude and endevour to play both Sterling and Grealish the way he did was awesome. What was also evident was that his performance quickly rubbed off onto the rest of the back four, with Sanchez making brilliant tackles. Dier not putting a foot wrong, and Reguilon looking the player he was when first coming to the club.
2. VAR actually was working in a sensible manner. Stirling and Grealish looked surprised that their falling about, that they are used to getting free kicks for, suddenly they realised that wasn't happening. Well done to VAR.
3. Son cannot play down the middle. We need an outright CF.
4. Bergwin, although put in a real shift today, can't hit a barn door, and really needs to start increasing his goals scored contribution through this season. Sitter missed for 2-0 illustrated this perfectly.
5. Sky are absolutely obsessed with City ( and Pep )
The commentary best illustrated this. Through out the game, we were lead to believe City lost this game, rather than Spurs won it. This happens unfortunately every time one of their favorites gets beat. So disrespectful the Spurs on this occasion.
6. Sky are absolutely obsessed with the "Kane situation" The commentator must of made reference to Kane about 20 times during the game. I think the media basically think "well if we keep talking about it, then it will happen" and if it does, we will have another 24/7 story on our hands, given the Messi and the Grealish stories are beginning to fizzle out.
7. Kane frankly is a disgrace. I absolutely don't buy it that he is somehow not match fit, when everyone else is. It's the opening game against the best team in the division, and he is nowhere to be see. He has killed off any relationship built up over the last 10 years with the fans, all in about one week.
Spurs should sue him for breach of contract, and certainly shouldn't be paying him his wages for this week.
8. Spurs, perhaps are not as bad as I thought. And City are not as good as I thought.
9. I was not there, as decided to let my season ticket go a while back, but have to say it looked ( and sounded ) brilliant. Don't care what anyone says, it is the best stadium around.
10 Nuno's influence. We all know how toxic Jose was, and perhaps today's performance tells you everything you need to know about the importance of getting the right manager in place and, in our case last year, not the wrong one. It was clear as day, every player added at least 10% effort and desire to their game today.
Just one game in, but I for one feel about 100% better about this season already.
Take away from the game

Brilliant win yesterday. Best spurs game since the good Poch days. Passion, desire, teamwork. I loved it. Please don’t be another false dawn.
F a cl Harry Kane. Couldn’t even congratulate his teammates on social media. He is starting to look like a complete liar and an idiot. I don’t believe he didn’t refuse to train. Honestly hope he goes now. He can go and win his hollow medals. He could’ve been our greatest ever player, probably would’ve had a statue outside the ground, my grandkids would’ve heard stories about him like I did Jimmy greaves.
Now he will be nothing but a short footnote in city’s money years. He will never be loved like aguero was. He will just be another player they spent a ridiculous amount of money on.
This is the last post I’ll make about Kane, I’m sick of the sight of his name. Goodbye and good riddance, you have shown you’re true colours recently, you have acted disgracefuly and should be totally ashamed of yourself. You do nit deserve spurs, or the England captaincy. I hope you leave.
Onwards and upwards for spurs though!

3. Son cannot play down the middle. We need an outright CF
---
I get this as a general opinion but based on today's game? He did everything we need from a CF. We definitely need a target man against sides that sit deep but that weren't today.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. Also I like the fact without Kane the three up top all have pace which is useful in the press and counter attack.
Be interesting if we can have more possession against Wolves in the next game and what tactics Nuni adopts.
No harm in having an out and out target man depending on Kane's future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't get me wrong, I love Son, his pace, skill and obvious wish to play for the club ( unlike some ) but my point here was that he is much better cutting in from a wider position, rather than playing straight down the middle. All three did brilliantly yesterday, but all three are basically wingers.

Good article Steve. Especially the bit about Sky being totally obsessed with moving Kane from Spurs to City.
About time Spurs put in a complaint to Sky over their complete ante Spurs agenda, pro Northern club bias.
When I got back from the game last night, I couldn`t believe all the nonsense coming out of Neville`s mouth in the after match summing up. Not a word of praise for Spurs, just all about Kane going to City. And if Michael Dawson is going to be a club ambassador, he needs to stop standing there like a stuffed dummy, and start putting the case for Spurs, and calling out Neville, Souness, Carragher, Keane etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then it got even worse later when the BBC got their 2 bob's worth of air time with MOTD. Did you see the opening segment, all about Kane, with the dramatic music. Honestly I nearly heaved.

Currently 5 articles on the BBC website highlighting Spurs good performance. Nothing yet from Simon Stone though.

I still have to watch that. No doubt Shearer will be banging the ante Spurs drum, and Kane has to move to City. Total idiot that fella.

1. Tanganga played tough and was lucky not to get a yellow card early on which would have subdued his game. Got a talking to instead...lucky.
2. Var is just a computer. Its the qualit yof the users that matters.
3. Total rubbish.
4. Berwygin has his faults, but he tries hard.
5 & 6 only idiots bother with Sky.
7. You have no idea what has gone on between Kane & Levy. You are just blowing smoke thru your asshole.
8. Agree.
9. It was a great game f football.
10. Nuno may not be as bad as I thought!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh well, nice to see you were gracious enough to give me a couple of points !!
1.Tell me, why should Tanganga ( or anyone else for that matter ) just sit back and let the likes of Stirling run all over him, because football is, apparently for softies ? if he played like that, we would have yet another season of saying "our defense is our weak link, blah, blah, blah" When interviewed after the game, Sterling's face looked like a smacked b*um. Did you not enjoy seeing that ?
Son is not a CF, he is a wide man, not a CF. I don't profess to know it all about football, but I am fairly sure about that. Oh, and if you check what I said, I did not in anyway talk down Son, who I think is our best player btw. So the defensive reaction is strange.
4,. Again, read my comments. I said Bergwin put in a shift. I just made the point he needs to contribute more goals. How is that not factually correct ?
7. No I do not profess to know what goes on at Board level. But I do know our highest paid and ( alleged ) best player was probably not even in the stadium on the opening weekend. Contractually, he should have been playing, and clubs need to stop pandering to these little divas. The guy has a contract, he is not injured, and I don't care in City may ( or may not ) buy him.

Other Refs would have given Tanganga a Yellow within the first 20mins.
That's the point. He was overly agressive, probably due to Nuno's coaching.
4. read what I said. And understand it!

After the last few weeks, do you not think Kane has probably been advised to stay off social media. By all accounts Kane`s social media shiete is managed by his brother, not Kane himself. Nobody knows the exact facts of what has gone on, they are just taking too much notice of the agenda driven media.
Whatever rumours are believed, I think it is obvious Kane has acted like a grade A mug, and the only way he repairs his legacy with Spurs is by staying and continuing to bang in the goals. If he leaves, it will be under a cloud and good riddance, such is the fickle nature of most fans.
The bottom line is, Kane is world class and we need him playing for Spurs, we are not finding a replacement even half as good, anybody who thinks selling Kane is a good idea needs a reality check.
Kane wants to win medals, I am sure he would rather win medals with Spurs than the hollow ones he will pick up at £ity, but ultimately he has been failed by ENIC, they have not matched his ambition and so he feels he has to leave. Kane has shown his true colours and disrespected the club, his team mates and the fans, but ENIC are the real villains in all this.
Levy must be loving this, the fans turning on Kane rather than venting their anger in ENIC`s direction. It is all playing out perfectly for Levy, he can sell Kane knowing the fans are on his side and not Kane`s. All this bullshiete would not be happening if ENIC had and desire to win silverware.

Just so we’re clear, I am most certainly not on levy’s side at all. I have been one of the most anti levy posters on this site over the last ten years.
However Kane is a grown man. He chose to lie and swindle and go on strike to get a move. If he really wanted to help spurs he should put in a transfer request and state it’s because Enic are not matching his ambitions.
He won’t because he wants his loyalty bonus. He cares more about that than he does spurs.
He is certainly not ‘one of our own’ and I hope he goes to city and it all falls apart for him.
Fack him.
