Time was when we approached Accrington, we would be confident of all the points, but not any more. The club develops its own talent and has comfortably held secure to its League 1 status, so that it is now recognised as an established force. Indeed, it finds its players are very much in demand by the large ambitious clubs, particularly those who have come up against them in this league.
So far they have managed to plug the gaps of those who have departed to wealthy rivals.
They lost at Wycombe with the home side still riding the momentum that was nearly enough to fend off relegation and they were perhaps somewhat negligent in their concentration because on the stats they probably controlled possession at least for most of the time. They then beat a slightly weakened Rotherham, again away, so against 2 quality sides they had it tougher than we did. Newly promoted Cambridge United seemed to have put up quite a good show at Accrington last Saturday, so their first league win was not straightforward, but it shows that John Coleman, their experienced manager seems always to be able to slot in very useful replacements for those they have to sell on.
If we were to win we would surely see it a a big step forwards, because form must point to a loss.
We have the excuse of being weakened by absences of key players, but this is based on projected rather than true proven strength, so it is only comforting to the optimists.
I think they will be a better unit than Wednesday and when you consider that we might well have lost to Walsall if they had taken their chances, there is not a big platform of confidence on which to rest.
So 1-3 - Barlow/Galbraith with our goal.

Ever the optimist, I'll say 1-1! I'll drop Tommy Rowe to second choice scorer and give the scoring honour to Galbraith.
I've got many errands to run this morning and so might miss the start of the game - which could be a good thing

For some reason I'm going to predict 2-1 to Rovers tonight. I have no idea why... Galbraith with the first goal.

I don’t think I am going to trouble my brain to select fancy words to describe how I feel about the team and the manager whose statements are wildly contradicted by the feeble attempts by his players to even look like scoring goals or even A goal.
Liam Hoden who conspires with the manager to suggest that what we think we see is actually potentially a good team is becoming very irritating.
They have scored one goal and I cannot recall them getting close to a second.

Frustrating indeed - after about ten minutes I thought we would be slaughtered. Dahlberg almost made up for his dreadful error with a couple of good saves. Why do we always start so slowly - we also did at the start of the second half.
There was a distinct improvement when we changed to 3-5-2 after Cameron John came on, and he had a pretty good game.
The lack of punch upfront has to be solved somehow, and also stopping some panic defending where Rovers have time to clear, but take wild kicks or bad headers that go to the opposition.
Can't we also learn how to take some benefit from throw-ins? Under the last three managers all we seem to do are long throws down the wing and which we rarely keep possession.
Another question - when is it a foul when ones striker is pulled back by his shirt or his arm? This happened to Cukur three times and no foul given. How it was not a foul when he had his arm grabbed and was dragged to the ground?

Normally you can take positives out of a game but tonight....they take some finding.

Doesn't Wellens do his homework! He should have know how Accrington would be set up and given our attacking options played a 3 5 2 formation from the start. Not looking good at all at the moment. As always actions speak louder than words.

Look, we lost just 1-0 to a much better team, and the one goal was from a dreadful mistake by our GK. Surely you can see some positives out of that, but I must say the short "highlights" is a somewhat distorted view of the game.
The worrying statistics are "Shots" and "Shots on Target".
At least the Rovers' website mentioned Cukur being dragged down - will it be on the extended highlights?
Each game this year, to me, has shown a real lack of quality refereeing.

Selby was the star of the predictors with a bonus, but there are no scorer points for 0 - there has to be an actual Rovers scorer.
Let us hope that we will have more to shout about next time!

Just seen the highlights and we were embarrassingly outclassed based on that.
No section of the team, defence, midfield or forwards looked to be at the same level as the opposition. I know that Accrington did not get any more goals, but we just seemed to be chasing after the ball - we did not look like full time professionals.
