Whilst I expected a pretty well reserve side tonight, I did actually expect a bit of effort, and some of the better players to be on the bench, to at least rescue things if things started to go wrong, which clearly did happen. Nuno has fallen in to the same trap as most of our last half a dozen managers thinking the Spurs squad players can win games like this. They cannot, they always lose. How many times have we seen a side that contains the likes of Davies, Winks, CCV, Sessignon, Doherty etc fail to turn up even in these sort of games.
That was a dreadful performance, not one player other than the goalie and Gill looked OK when he had the ball early on, would get anywhere near the first XI as it stands. Our so called better players like Lo Celso and Romero were very poor. Winks, Davies and Doherty are a clearly totally useless even at this level. Youngsters nowhere near ready.
Going to take at least half a dozen of the first team probably starting next week, to rescue the tie now.
A very poor night, but not totally unexpected. Yes, it may not be the greatest competition, but why embarass the club, by getting knocked out in the preliminary round, even before the knockout rounds.
Is it any wonder Spurs have gone potless for years if they are not going to take even this competition seriously.

This seems unfair somewhat, but a place in the CL rather than the Europa for the winners would make it much more of an incentive to be in, and to try to win.

Agreed. It’s a bit of joke competition if I’m going to be honest. Yes I am desperate for trophies, but I don’t want to be laughed at by winning one. It’s not much different winning the Aldi cup. People will laugh at us even if we win it because an awful 3rd rate European farmer cup competition. We lose it, we get taken the p*** out of even more. It’s literally a no win scenario in this cup, rather just bin it off. Totally pointless.

The squad we have ATM is a total joke.
Here are the guys you may be able to depend upon:
Lloris , Gollini
Tanganga, Rodon, Davies?, Dier?, Reguilon, Aurier? Sanchez?, Doherty?
Lo Celso, Moura, Hojbjerg, Sissoko? Alli
Son, Bergwijn, Kane
New and untested: Romero, Gil, Scarlett, Parrot,
Any name with a "?" means that player is either not dependable or should have been traded, or both.
I count exactly 12 names without "?".
6 names with "?"
And 4 new or untested guys.
That is a total of 22 players 10 of which are questionable.
And I have included Kane.
Can we even put out an unquestionable first eleven?
And what happens with a couple of injuries?
This squad is way too thin to enter a new season in the Premiere League.
Unless there is some last minute great trading, I expect this season to be a disaster for the club.

No it won't Ted, not if the manager mixes and matches. Spurs can navigate the cup competitions if they mix and match a bit. They don't have to go completely reserve like last night.
