Opta stats
Burnley have won three of their last four home league games against Leeds (L1), though that one defeat did come in this exact fixture last season (4-0).
Of the 38 opponents Leeds have faced at least 50 times in English league football, only against Coventry (53.8%) do they have a higher win rate than they do against Burnley (51.7 per cent - won 31/60).
Just one of the last 22 league meetings between Burnley and Leeds has finished level (1-1 in August 2015), with Leeds winning 15 of these to Burnley's six.
Leeds United won 4-0 in their first Premier League away game at Turf Moor (in this fixture last season), inflicting Burnley's joint-heaviest defeat at home in the competition under Sean Dyche - their previous home defeats by four goals came against Chelsea and Everton in 2018.
Burnley have lost each of their last five Premier League games at Turf Moor, while they have only suffered a longer run of home league defeats once in their history (seven consecutive home defeats in February 1890).
Leeds United haven't drawn a game away from home in the Premier League since February 2004 (1-1 v Manchester United) - in 20 away games in the competition under current manager Marcelo Bielsa, they have won 10 and lost the other 10.
Burnley have scored just 15 league goals at Turf Moor since the start of last season (20 games). Excluding promoted and relegated teams, they are the lowest-scoring team in home games since the start of 2020-21.
Since returning to the Premier League in 2020-21, Leeds United have allowed just 9.3 opposition passes per defensive action - the lowest average of any team in the competition.
Chris Wood is Burnley's all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 46 goals, however he's only scored once in his eight league appearances against former club Leeds United. That goal came while playing for Millwall in the Championship in November 2012, while he's failed to score in each of his five league games against them since then.
Since Raphinha made his first Premier League start for Leeds United in November 2020, no player has made more assists in the competition than the Brazilian (9 - joint-most in this period, along with Kevin De Bruyne and Bruno Fernandes).

Seems like this could be a good game, but hopefully a re-run of last seasons result will see us take the 3 points back over the Pennines, maybe not by 4 goals I'd settle for a nice 2-0 Win with Paddy and Dallas getting the goals (Dallas due to hit the net i think )

Faith, I'm not delusional. I have no hope or aspirations for Europe. Unless it's for a holiday break. Last season we took a few teams by surprise. We have to factor that in when it comes to our points tally.

Do you think we're built to match last season's finish?
Just curious. Great if you do. I have a less positive feeling about where we are right now. Again though, it is very early in the season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said I think 50 points is the target. We won a few points last season where we had the rub of the green. We will gain a few this season we don't deserve.

But 9 points less than last sounds realistic to me.

I don't think that's a bad place to be at this stage of our development either. In that case we have retained cash, Secured our status and brought in more revenue. If in the period one or two of the youngsters have established themselves in the first team squad that would be a huge bonus going into next season.

If fans are unhappy with that then they need to get some perspective.

If fans think we are 25 points worse off this season I would love to see the explanation of where them points are going?

Faith, I haven't really thought about this season in the sense of points. I've been looking at how we're playing.
Individuals and as a team. Llorente & Koch being in and out with injury is worrying again. Firpo looks a player.
But he's been in and out also so no real sense of what we have there yet.

Maybe for me, possibly unrealistically, I wanted to see
a real, concrete improvement. Where we could all say,
"yes, this team's clearly improved." It would be hard for anyone right now to argue that we look better than last season.

Can we improve? Yes. And I agree on the U23s coming in. Trouble there (or frustration) is how MB just lets them join the first team. Only to sit in the dug out to watch.
If they're to help us, they need minutes. Anywhere they can get them. If not, will they help us at all?

Big one is, and I understand the owners and management of the club are now very good stewards,
what will we do to improve the squad? If it's nothing beyond what they already have, I'll remain a bit of
a fretter for now.

I actually enjoyed the physical rough stuff. If it had been Leeds at Elland Road the crowd would have been in raptures. Well done though to our boys for withstanding it and Barnes did get away with murder but we stood up to it and got a result. Burnley will ruffle a lot more feathers this season with their home fans lapping it up.

For me the worrying thing is not our performance but the bench. We have a decent 11 but we rely on the same subs. We have no one who can come on and really change a game. To be fair Shackleton did well when he came on but we just need some bit of spark at times

I completely understand frustration at us not improving. But obviously that frustration has to be realistic and not greedy. The club have earned a level of patience.

But what I don't understand is the 'we're in a relegation fight' brigade.

If we even just got 46 points say. And used the extra years prem revenue to spend £60-70m next summer that would be brilliant.

Do you think we will be 20 points worse off this season?

If not disappointment in not improving is fine but the fans over reacting are doing so over nothing

The side is crying out for a game changer that can come on with 25 minutes to go like a Premier league version of Saiz, so fingers crossed Orta and Kinnear are working hard behind the scenes to get us someone by Tuesday night.

^^^^^

I've mentioned this before, I have several relatives who are Sheff U fans. They're constantly harping on about just that. In their minds, we are mirroring them. In their minds. I disagree with them. But to dismiss any idea that we might be near the fight, especially based our start, could end up biting us.

That said, I'd much rather be us than Arsenal.

I think we'll be ok. But would much rather know it.
The idea of Championship football again, no thanks.

I don’t really understand the panic from fans.

We look very similar to last season. The games have been incredibly similar. So it seems pretty reasonable to expect a similar mid table outcome.

And we were all delighted with that last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Eh? We scored 7 goals in our first two games…and conceded 7. What similarities do you see, Faith?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We lost by 4 goals at Old Trafford both seasons.

We had very tight games with Everton at Elland Road, lost last season. Drew this.

The game against Burnley was so similar to the first game which we sneaked 1-0. If anything we were better today than that game.

Hence it being very similar. Or do you not take opposition into account?

We did go on to beat Burnley 4-0 away later but it did look like they had given up and they did have a hologram in goal.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

On the whole we got an even hand over last season in terms of games where we rode our luck and games where we didn't.

Absolutely, the opposition matters and particularly how certain sides set up against us.

Everton last year, at home we were the better side but lost to a smash and grab first half followed by a bus parking. Last weekend they had the chances to bury us.

Man United away last year was a freak result, they were two up in a matter of minutes and scored with their first four shots, after that it was basketball as we chased the game, but we created plenty ourselves in that game... nothing this year.

I agree we were very poor at home to burnley last year, the second half was terrible and we were lucky to get the points. Away from home the score flattered us but we were clearly the better team. Which of the goals we scored at Burnley last year do you think Pope would have saved?

It's 3 games in, it's nothing and wayyyy too early to draw any conclusions. I look at performances though more than results and we've been disappointing so far in my opinion. We finished last season near/top of the form table looking like a side who had managed to get a balance between fluent attacking play and defensive solidity. We've started the season looking like we have neither. I'm sure it will come, but i can understand fans disappointment.

Agree with those who say it is too early to draw any conclusions, however we cannot ignore the performances. Last season we looked dangerous going forward scoring 7 in the first 2 games, albeit conceding 7 as well. This season it looks like opponents have sussed us out. We could not cope with Burnley's press and gave the ball away a lot with poor passing. Add to that they seemed to be first to every loose ball and won most of the 50/50s. Even Philips had the ball taken off him a couple of times (very unusual)
Our attackers always seemed to be up against 2 or 3 of their defenders so although they would maybe beat the first man, they would lose the ball to the second or third.
It does not get any easier either with the scousers up next.
I just hope our internationals all return injury and Covid free and we can start to recover the form of towards the end of last season

I think your crossed fingers will be of little use. All the noises coming out of the club are negative regarding signing any players.

Did anyone see how well Conor Gallagher played for Palace? He scored both their goals. Such a shame he didn’t want to come to Leeds. I can’t understand why we haven’t gone for another player after Gallagher turned us down, I feel our squad is too small this season. We have lost good players but not really replaced them.

I am really disappointed with our lack of transfer activity this summer,
