Real is question is ….. are either better than Tanganga ?

Tanganga actually plays like a CB covering at full back. Good to throw on to keep it tight but he comes up well short further up the pitch. It looks like Emerson does the lot. With Doherty and Aurier in no man's land it was a position we needed. I'm not surprised by it at all.

I do not trust Tanganga as CB. I have seen him lose track of players too easily.

I havent seen him in a back 3 but that may be better suited to him. Right back he seems good as he is aggressive and mobile and only has to worry about players on one side of him. He's a good defensive RB like Davies is a LB but does offer a bit more going forward due to his athleticism. Much like Wan Bisaka at Utd

But to me it is clear that our team either needs one less DM to start games or more attacking and dangerous FBs. Reggie is fine at LB although seems to have less licence to attack right now. May be this is something we will develop as everyone settles in, Nuno included.

I trust Tanganga more at CB than I do Sanchez or Dier. If the kid stays fit he is a good defender.

Thought he’s done well in the 1st 3 games

He was on loan at betis because they helped pay for him.

Emerson is much more of a traditional fullback than tomiyasu - he offers much more going forward. Tomiyasu is clearly a right back that you would keep in your own half and have make up a back 3 in possession (think what we did with Ben Davies under Mourinho.)
