breaks before mid November with us, how do we rate Spurs start to the season? Just as the season is up and running it grinds to a shuddering halt because of the International breaks. I really do loathe International football now. Why cannot they play all of these mostly meaningless qualifying games before or at the end of the season?
The breaks are as follows
August 30-Sept 8
Oct 4-Oct 13
Nov 8-Nov 16
So a fair chance Spurs will be missing most of their South American players for the best part of three months, what a nonsense.
Anyway back to the article, Spurs start to the season. I would rate it an 8/9 out of 10. Excellent three wins out of three, one win against last season`s champions, another win a tricky away game at Wolves, and a game against a newly promoted side, which we would expect Spurs to win. No goals conceeded in 270 minutes of football, who would have thought. A very decent transfer window. Add in a very decent pre season with a win over Arsenal, and a draw at Chelsea, and I think as Spurs fans we can be more than pleased, and the future looks bright.
Obviously it is early days, but better to have made the start Spurs have made this season, than the one they made last season, where they had just four points, after losing at home to Everton and drawing at home to Newcastle. So that is already five points to the good on the opening three fixtures of last season.
I think there is definitely a renewed energy around WHL, new manager, lots of the old guard moved on now. New era looks to be beckoning post Covid. The buzz at WHL on matchdays is very, very positive. Team looks fitter, definitely gets stronger as the matches have progressed, where they used to be out on their feet after about 60 minutes. Good sign that Nuno has got them working their socks off.
Now let`s get this awful International break out of the way, and get on with tackling Palace away, and hopefully another three points to carry on the perfect start to the season. At this rate Spurs own record of 11 straight wins to start a season could be in jeopardy.
COYS
So with the first of three International

Imagine turning down playing for your country trying to qualify for a world cup. If the country qualifies, the manager is well within his rights to say...GLC and Romero were not prepared to play for us but I got 22 other lads who did. Feck them and feck their dreams.
Now you can put your feet up in winter and summer and play for your beloved club. Enjoy your next trip to Argentina lads. The locals can't wait to see you
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I support Spurs not fecking Argentina. Who gives a toss about International football, most of it is total rubbish anyway.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the players who represent their country care about international football. You claim you were around when England won the world cup right? Must have been proper rubbish mate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That was a tournament outside of the domestic season. Very few qualifiers, and none during the season. Completely different era.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Moves with the times then old man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
LOL you seem more interested in supporting Argentina than Spurs. Just for the record have you actually ever been to Spurs?

Yeh move with the times, where two or three Spurs players lose about three months of the season every season, because of Argentina and the other South American clubs come a calling. No thanks sonny.

As stated earlier, cases and deaths in Argentina are declining. The chances of them moving from red to amber look better so hopefully by October things will change. The only player from the first eleven in the prem to miss out will be Sanchez. Most people won't be that bothered.
This is why we have a squad and the players who miss out will open the doors for others.

Luka posts total nonsense so he can go post on someone else's articles.

I’d agree with a fair few points in the article think it’s been a pretty successful summer but no backup striker does set off some alarm bells.
In terms of results it can’t really get any better - but the performances have been pretty middle of the road. Really solid and resilient, a good structure, but no real creativity. Which will probably be the story throughout the season and hopefully our attacking excellence is enough to keep us winning.

Sometimes you have to change styles to get the necessary results. Spurs have always been known as an attacking flair team, but it doesn`t always prove prosperous results wise. So I am more than happy for the team to be industrious and resilient, with two quality players up front to put the ball in the next, if it is bringing the required results. I remember Leicester in the season they won the league were awful to watch, but they did what they had to do to win the league.

Leicester aren’t really a good example as they are the exception to the rule in regards to almost everything. Obviously there are many different ways to win the league but I haven’t seen enough from us to suggest we won’t struggle vs teams that sit back

Very few teams now just sit back. The modern game is about players flying about all over the place, most don`t have much skill, but even the poorest teams to not sit back. Norwich, Burnley, Palace etc all play on the front foot if they can. Even Watford didn`t just sit back, they were not very good, but at least they did get forward a bit.
