Forest v Cardiff - Match Thread

Not sure how you guys survived lockdown for so long in the UK. It’s only three months here and i’m that bored i’m starting the match thread a full five days before the game. Crazy.

Anyway, after a drastic overhaul of the players, CH has now had a full window to build his team. I’m pretty sure it’s not his first choice, but at least we finally have RB covered.

I could see another 1-1 draw here.

Lolley and Soh both played for the U23s and both had a great game. So they could be involved, but likely on the bench. I’d imagine Tutu will be slowly nursed back to full fitness and Braian will miss out due to international duty, as might Johnson.

CHs Line-up

Samba
Spence Worrall McKenna Lowe
Garner Yates
Zico Johnson Mighten
Grabban

He could try 3-5-2...but i’d be amazed if he did.

Samba
Soh Worrall McKenna
Spence Garner Yates Johnson Lowe
Grabban Taylor

Me...no idea. We are still weak up front so having two there could be a revelation. Although it will likely mean both are getting less chances and we revert to 4-5-1 when chasing the game. Good old CH positivity.

Anyway, i’m looking forward to seeing the new players and hopefully a change in fortune and a continuation of the second half against Derby.

COYR!!!!

It is now.

I just happened to be sitting in the King Billy on Friday night and they had the football on, anyway I ended up watching the first half.
I haven't seen the second goal but I noticed that Sky kept repeating the first, hand crafted master piece over and over. It certainly gave me a good laugh!

Just looking back at our last seven league results, including the final game of last season but without the exception of our solitary point against the sheep, have all ended with us being on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.

Forest have tended to start strongly in recent years before falling away, so it's possible that this is actually the high point.

Sorry I was unable to join you this afternoon; had a bit of domestic crisis management of my own to deal with.

I was at the CG though to witnes the latest debacle.

First of all I was disappointed with the team selection. It was clear there was to be no change in formation and tactics. But Cardiff left Moore on the bench so it wasn't all bad But it turned out that MM knew what he was doing - not like CH sadly.

We started off OK and took a lead we just about deserved, although we had been pushing our luck a bit.

Around the hour mark MM could see our defence was tiring and brought on two fresh strikers. CH didn't realise what was about to happen though and didn't react. Moore came on and we allowed Cardiff to give him the kind of service he thrives on.

Easy with hindsight but I think CH should have brought a CB on and gone to a 3-5-2; man mark Moore rather than let him go up against Max Lowe at the far post, and push the full backs forward to cut off the supply.

BTW, the ref was too weak to be in chabrge of a game involving Cardiff.

On to Wednesday when Colin is back in town, so more of the same but with extra cheating. CH has to play 3-5-2 if we are to have a chance.

Watched on Sky - aerial bombardment by a team who reminded us they can also play football with their second.

Scored first and did well until we let that first one in. But didn't really start to play on the floor until we were 2-1 down. Why?

League Results: W12 D17 L19
Win rate: 25%
Last 12: W0 D5 L7 GF 7 GA 16

CHs wins since he came in:
Blackburn x 2 (lost to this season)
Coventry x 2 (lost to this season)
Wycombe x 2 (since relegated)
S Wed x 1 (since relegated)
Preston x 1
Millwall x 1
Rotherham x 1 (since relegated)
Cardiff x 1 (lost to this season)
QPR x 1

So, of the 12 wins he has got:

Five are from relegated teams and three of the wins are teams we have lost to already this season.

CH - “That means players stepping up to the mark. That means a group of players gelling together and doing enough to get results.”

Asked if he has the players in his squad to do that, the Reds manager added: “This, we have to see."

How many players does he need to have to get results. He must have had 50 come and go and yet the same old as carp as last season.

I didn't want him here in the first place, he should have left last season and he should have gone over the international break. Get rid, he's wonk.

He has been given plenty of time, he is still the fall guy though. Top of the list has to be the stupid recruitment policy, wasting £14m that has been frittered away and dismantling what had been a successful team. The Greeks are just as incompetent as Fawaz, they're just better at covering it up.
It can be a revelation watching a group of players once they have confidence in the manager & tactics.
He needs to go quickly before Forest become anchored at the bottom.
