Joaquín and Vicente

Remember these two obliterating full backs all over Europe? Although both did have relatively successful careers I can't help but think that they should have been a lot better, especially JoaquĆn. His performances for Betis and in the 2002 World Cup (even with the crucial penalty miss) were those of one of the most talented players id ever seen. The Valencia team post Benitez had all the attributes to mount a serious challenge on Europe but it just never materialised, pity.

Classic example of players believing the hype surrounding them

Should have accomplished a whole lot more with their careers

Any player that plays in SPain, will only realise their full potential or anywhere near their full potential, if they move to one of the big 2.

Playing for Valencia, Sevilla, Villareall etc. is useless in terms wanting to be world class such is the domination of Real and Barca in La Liga

Back then, spanish players staye din SPain, only recently have the likes of Torres, Silva, Fabregas moved abroad

Benzeguero

What bull! There have been a lot of players who have become world class in other clubs such as;

Valeron (Deportivo)
Villa (Valencia)
Mendieta (Valencia)
Riquelme (Villareal)

Should I carry on?!

Well vicente career has been disrupted by injuries, badly. So thats not his fault.

And joaquin has never rediscovered his betis form at valencia.

I always like Joaquin, he could have been massive. Unfortunately, it was more he was in some excellent form and it wasn't really followed up.

I get the feeling that's Gareth Bale, which is why I hope we don't go for him. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Joaquin is like SWP looks good at an average team but when at a decent team is shown up.
Vicente is like Kewell, showed promise but to many injuries

There was a period where Joaquín and Reyes were both still playing for their clubs in Seville and in sublime form, when I genuinely thought they would both go on to become world class players.

The Kewell-Vicente comparison is excellent
