I mean just WHYYYYY would you move AMN to RB in that game? The boy was doing just fine, better in fact. Pretty sure the attackers just saw more quick ball from MF off his boot in that one game, than in all of last season. We were controlling MF well on the whole (Sam's influence Ains was evident) and Arteta just decides to feck it all up for no good reason.
Watching and hear "Thomas Partey set to come on..." so I'm just hoping Arteta's at least got him for Lokonga right and I'm now going to see my "chosen last season" Arsenal MF pairing of AMN/Partey. It's Lokonga for Partey, YES here it comes my boys are going to run MF. "It's going to be a double substitution for Arsenal, Emile Smith Rowe's coming on too." So I'm thinking he's GOT to be coming on for Odegaard who's been ineffective today, whoa it's ON now, 4-0 here we come. "And it's Smith Rowe for Tomiyasu, Maitland Niles has moved out to RB."
Ya what? WHAT...THE...ACTUAL FECKIN FECK???? Us completely losing control of MF instantly and Ains coming off injured for SOARES shortly after, underlines just how bad this decision was. Mikel Arteta just cannot feckin help himself, I don't care he ended up scraping the win today it should have been more and would have if he'd just left well enough alone and made the CORRECT Soares/Tomiyasu sub.. You can't have a winning season if the man in charge is going to make decision that feckin stupid. Bigger teams punish management stupidity like that. Arteta just proved he's GOT to go. Let's hope Ains is ok despite the manager's apparent determination to feck him over. And well done the lads, bet they felt great to be playing Wengerball again.
Can't Believe He Just Done That

Ps, lost control immediately- scored within 4 minutes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So what, you can't score a goal when not controlling MF??? Don't be silly DJ you know you can since teams done it to us for years before recent times when we usually can't control a MF for sh !t.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying Ains was being superhuman in MF or Partey wasn't the man when he came on. I just saying AMN should have stayed where he was since Soares was there for a straight swap. And the fact he didn't is why firstly he came off injured shortly after and secondly, we had to watch the last 5-10 mins only 1-0 up when we could and likely would have watched it 3.
It's not about Ains or Partey individually, it's about the potential power in the PAIRING that the manager is too feckin dumb to see and make even when the stage is perfectly set to do so. And how he makes his teams life twice as hard making today's kind of dumbass decision.

Partey ran the show in midfield by himself when he came on
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never said he didn't, just seeing and saying the show he ran would have looked way better and more convincing than 1-0 in the end if his supporting actor had been AMN because he'd stayed where he was instead of moving to RB.
You've gotten too used to losing, so desperate to see a win, you don't even care that it should have been by more so aren't seeking to question why it wasn't at all.

Ains tired out in midfield and was making errors. Moving him to RB was the right decision, where eventually he couldn't continue.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The fat he eventually couldn't continue should tell you it was the wrong decision. If your position is he was too spent to stay in MF then you can't be saying it was right to move him to RB where being too spent to play MF he's now expected to sprint up and down the wing.
I'm of the mind Partey comes on with Ains staying where he was and now Ains ain't having to run quite so much becuase Partey's getting there where Lokonga wasn't. In my scenario Ains definitely ends up running less than he has to being moved RB in a Wengerball setup. Arteta might as well have just kicked him good and hard in the hamstring.

We had more chances after we went 1 up, better chances than before the goal as well.
We were struggling to create a good chance, so Arteta did the right thing and have a more offensive midfielder (Odegaard) in the 2.
Arteta probably didn't want to make 3 subs at once, and both Sambi and Tomi were cooked. Ains was on for another 20 after the subs, and contributed down the right without any issue.
No-one is going to think beating Norwich is a sign we "are back" or anything like that - but you seem to have taken great hurt from Arsenal winning. Enjoy a win and stop trying to make things fit your agenda. You look more and more like a Spurs fan hurting from Vieira giving you a good hammering today.

You see to be under this strange impression that AMN is the second coming of Vieira or something. He was nothing special in mf today.. as has been the case pretty much every time he has played there.

Nah just under the same impression that I was last season which is that he's the perfect MF partner for Partey. Yes I believe that AMN will fully mature into a quality MF if left there but this is specifically about that Partnership, the potential in it and the fact that Areta has been too much of a dumbass to try it.
The chaos and all the different changes he made last season and never had the nouse to give these two a whirl??? Had we been playing great football all this time maybe that'd be ok but in this "trying everything" mess we've seen it definitely should have been tired in the past year. Only reason it wasn't was Arteta's petty "dummy spit and bench him all year because he questioned me" act with AMN.
I made it clear to all already that I'd not enjoy a win unless I saw fans still screaming for Arteta's head afterward because win or not he needs to be sacked. But I see some are too busy being happy about a poorly closed out 1-0 win at home to bloody Norwich. Winning yesterday changes very little overall. Only thing there to enjoy is the knowledge that the team is still comfortable playing Wengerball so Arteta's replacement will have seen that it's the way to go.

That may well be so but it doesn't change the fact that I have been SPOT ON about Arteta from Day one. Seem to remember there being the same tone of responses as I'm getting here, when I told you all he was clueless, with a bad attitude that would rip the squad apart.
Yup got told I was wrong and called names then too. So all you all wanna make yourselves look stupid again this season, be my guest. I know better that to trust Arteta.

Amn doesn't have the passing range, technical skills to play in MF
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was playing an awful lot of quick one touch ball in to the forwards for somebody with no technical skills. I get the feeling that you're also suggesting that to play in MF somebody HAS to have the passing range of Xhaka. They don't and more to the point "range" is picked up by playing/training there. His passing has improved at West Brom, yes he had some misplaced passes but so did everyone else on the pitch at some point. What I paid attention to was his CHOICE of pass each time (mostly the right choice), execution needs work and will improve with time left playing there. And as I said the more critical quick ball fed up front. Something our forwards have been starved of a good 2 years.
After watching how the forwards lapped up that ball and actually got after the game, I can't believe how many of you have jumped on to slate him and make out he never done sh !t all ,match then Partey waltzed on and won the game. Hardly Ains' fault that the forwards couldn't quite get the ball in the net before he was moved is it. Because it certainly wasn't for lack of quick incisive ground passes setting up attacks, he gave them PLENTY of those.

And Btw Odegaard and ESR in the same front four is a waste of one of the two players and always has been. They're both number 10s and both want the middle of the attack. So the sooner Arteta learns to just play one or the other instead of forcing on wide/deep, shoehorning both players into the side, the better. It's always been a bad idea especially with ESR being injury prone anyway. Guarantee with lose both for weeks at some point if Arteta doesn't stop playing the two together.
