Villa game

This is the first time I can remember as many as 4 clubs with so much quality at the top of the league. Hopefully it plays out to be as exciting a season as it looks on paper.

Think the difference between 1st & 4th this year will be smaller than the difference between 4th & 5th. As we get into 2022 City, United, Chelsea & Pool are gunna pull away from everyone.

Thought Villa were excellent today, but it was made easier by a very naive Saul not being aware of thr gulf between PL and la liga in intensity and speed . He had an awful debut but i said elswhere that he shouldnt be starting the game yet.
Kova was 11 out of 10 today took his goal like a prime Torres, Mendy , well what more can you say he saved us in that first half. Alonso continues his good start to the season. Thiago was a rock as usual. Rom is looking sharp took both goals well.

In a way I’m glad Saul had such a shocking debut. There will be no chance of him taking anything for granted from here on

It was a Ramires debut. Wasn't a 'this guy's clearly sh!t' performance, it was a 'this guy's gunna need a bit of adjusting time' performance.

He has spent his entire career in one league at one club under one manager. He's allowed a few months

Yeah it wasn’t like his passing or first touch was poor. He just took too much time on the ball which you don’t get in this league. He’ll improve.

Lukaku had half a dozen touches and scored two Great goals
Silva was imperiously excellent at the back, Mendy was top drawer, Saul needs work, jorginho improved us immensely when he came on.

I was at the game and you were lucky to get in level. As soon as you went 2 up it was over.
Saul was awful and looked completely unprepared for prem football. Sure he'll get better though. Kova was very good to be fair. CHO won't ever make it at Chelsea in terms of a key first team player. Thiago and Rudiger are exceptional. The fact you won 3-0 without getting out of second gear is pretty ominous for me. I think you'll win it this season.

I think this is a fair assessment, we were pretty awful. I think putting Chalobah, Saul and CHO together on the right was very naive from Tuchel and Villa attacked us via the obvious inexperience on that side of the pitch.

We should have taken the money for CHO when we could and he shouldn't be playing right wing back. A physical Villa midfield is not a time for Saul to make his debut - he was always out of position, lost the ball too often and never found a Chelsea player with his passing. As soon as Jorginho came on, we gained control just from his positional play, he made few passes, tackles or interceptions but managed to fill the spaces and stop attacks.

Good to have a striker who can finish but I think we actually need to start passing the ball to him, putting more through balls and crossing into the penalty area. Ziyech and CHO kept slowing play down, there were too many long shots and very little service for Lukaku. We made him just two chances today - he should be having better service at home against a team like Villa.

Loved the tribute to Sean Lock. One of our own.

We easily draw or lose that game last season.

Yesterday showed why having a world class striker is so important, 2 chances, 2 goals.

Also, massive shout out to Kovacic & Mendy.

Saul, well it can't get any worse than that you'd think. Was q difficult game to throw him into. McGinn was on him like a rash. Good learning experience for him

I would start Saul agst Zenit. He is experienced in the CL and should feel more at home. It won't be good for him to wait ages after yesterday for his next chance.
