So I only kind of ‘half watched’ last night, but was pleased with what I saw from Ndombele.
I’m not saying it was a world class performance overall, but he did more creatively in 80 minutes than any of our other midfielders have all season.
Plus, for his first game back, to get to almost 80 minutes before being subbed is a decent sign for his fitness.
So, does he walk back into our first 11 now? Or do you think Nuno still won’t quite trust him?

He is unbelievably talented, but has to work harder. His control is Dembele level but defensively he needs to do more.
He is though legitimately capable of becoming a world class player, the raw talent is incredible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's lazy is fans saying "he needs to do more defensively". Why should he? It's not his game. You don't say a CB needs to score more goals.
And never mind all this, I saw him doing a huge amount of defensive work, clearances in our own box, making tackles etc. The one tackle he didn't make, they score from and again its "he needs to do more". Ridiculous

Dele best contributions have been defensively this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree, but that itself is worrying, as other than the Pen at Wolves he has contributed little going forwards. I would like a midfielder who can do both, we should have cloned Dembele
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ironically Dembele didn't score or assist. So as much as I rated Dembele I think some have a very exaggerated view of his contributions. Wanyama and Eriksen were just as key in his best season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dembele was a monster
He could do everything …..his defensive work was not exaggerated enough ….he would win the ball back countless times
Much like modric I think his assists were down as he was always the pass before the assist ….the space he opened up with the drop of his shoulder
I miss seeing him play ….was a rolls Royce of a player

He does either have to do more or the side have to be able to cope with the defensive deficiency. Poch got this, Jose didn’t and Nuno looks a bit confused as well.
No way can we have 3 up top and then Dele and Tanguy in the same midfield, we would be over run. Tanguy will dominate against bottom 10 Prem sides and European fodder, but when has he ever done that for us against City, United, Liverpool or Chelsea - that’s where he has to do more. Kane and Son do more by creating chances as well as scoring and they are our two best players, no excuses for Tanguy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If can dominate below top 6 clubs its good enough.
Palace were quaking in their boots for that midfield last week

The narrative that Ndombele is lazy is lazy in itself, but on the flip side of that he does need to work a bit harder.
We have had plenty of quality that didnt really put a foot in or compete physically and Eriksen comes to mind. But he put in the yards, often covering the most distance. NDombele needs to be disciplined in his postioning and maintain his effort, not necessarily getting stuck in. I have seen him standing around a bit too much at times, his effort is a bit sporadic. You can get away with that if you are Messi but he needs to deliver before he gets any slack given.
Having said that he needs to be in the team. vs someone like Chelsea, may be not alongside PEH. And if we are missing some wide players at the weekend, maybe NDombele in Dele's position, moving him wider

Players stand around all the time during a football game
People just notice it more with Tanguy because they're looking for it

If he’s fit he walks into our first 11 not the slightest question about it, he’s our most talented midfielder by far and the only like to get on the ball and keep it or create something moving forward that’s more than a long diagonal pass. He has to start on Sunday, if I see PEH, Skipp and Winks as the starting MF three then I’m done.

I've said all along Ndombele should be given the chance to prove himself.
The players say it too...based on what he does in practice.
The fact that he wants away should not matter......after all Kane wants away too!
