Look how nice the building that was there before the eyesore that is the Mercure was built.

Aye it's an eyesore mate.

Service in there is piiss poor too.

Sister and her family were staying there just before the pandemic so we decided to get a lunch there before going out for a few drinks.

Staff with faces like thunder and service was so slow we pied them and went across the road to The Auctioneers for a pub dinner instead 😂

Never noticed that.

Another wee fact about the town and it being a staging post for future events.

The first ever Cabinet meeting to be held outside of Westminster/London happened in Inverness as an emergency meeting to discuss the uprising in Ireland in 1921. Centenary was last week. The King was holidaying just down the road in Moy and most of the cabinet were up here hunting and holidaying too. Was the beginning of discussions that led to the Irish Free State.

I've never been in but i won't say i'm surprised. It's my second most hated building in town after the grey block below the castle.

But home of penalties and total football. Some week for the town.

Aye only time I stepped foot inside it. Wasn't impressed.

Some decent developments/upgrades happening in the town.. hopefully that grey monstrosity you mentioned is sorted sooner rather than later.

The Castle upgrades look good, although not sure about the white facade they're planning.. the current sandstone look is timeless. The Town House looks great now and when they finalise the pedestrian areas and tart the town up, it should look good and will make outside dining/drinking an attraction. Prefer the continental approach.

New joint railway/bus terminal will be another positive when it starts.

Guarantee every single project gets a thousand FB posts moaning that money is being wasted and the town is good enough the way it is.. all from the same greeting faced kants who moan that nothing ever changes. The worst thing about living here are the locals.. biggest village in the Highlands as they say
