I know some fans think we should be outperforming Oil and state backed clubs but be interested to know who are our realistic rivals.
For me I'll use a Grade system to measure a season.
Grade A: We finish ahead of Man City or Chelsea or both.
Grade B: We finish ahead of Man U or Liverpool or both
Grade C: We finish ahead of Arsenal, Everton and Leicester
Anything less than a C would be poor performance from Nuno. In my view C keeps him in a job and I expect this in his first season. If Paratici buys well in the next two windows then Grade B or above for 2022/23 should be his target.
Our true rivals...

People like the OP is why Levy can get away with what he does so easily.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What’s Levy got to do with evaluating Nunos performance? Feel free to let me know what a Grade A Levy performance would be this season? Spending 200m? Grade B 150m? Grade C 100m?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Four years ago you had a team capable of winning the league and now it's basically being accepted that you finish behind four teams and preparing the excuses early for two of them.
Do you see Simeone throwing the towel in like this in Spain?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The chairman wants to win at Atletico. How much did they spend on Felix?
Levy wants money, if we were finishing 4th every year he would be ecstatic - culture has to change from the top down
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then why aren't you boycotting games and merchandise until the fecker is gone?

I would honestly put Leicester in grade B, they are better than us currently.
Grade D should be West Ham - any Spurs manager should get the old tic tac if they finish below those chancers
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would be the Leicester who are below us in the table and have lost 3 games already?
The Leicester who got their deals done early but this has had no positive impact on their team and performances so far?
Nah. They have issues like the rest of us in Grade C.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s right, the Leicester who won the FA cup a few months ago and finished above us in the league for the second time in a row. Of course what sort of barometer is that compared to the first 5 games of the new season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SO you'd put them in B with Utd who have vastly greater resources, came 2nd last year 3rd the year before, above Leicester, reached the ECL final and Liverpool who are recent PL and UCL Champions . Not for me. Leicester are much closer to us than they to Utd & LFC, despite their FA Cup win. Last 2 seasons league table bares this out as does the current league table
----------------------------------------------------------------------
4 years ago Leicester won the league, Arsenal second, United out of the top 4 along with Liverpool.
Shiiit changes and it is no coincidence that those with the greatest resources rise to the top more often than not
In our case our downward turn coincided with the lack of signings but with others its other types of transition that puts a bump in their road. The biggest clubs have the ability to bounce back spend massive sums to get back on track, like Chelsea spending £230m in one window, or like City who spend consistently to make sure the bumps in their road are very small.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but they won the FA cup and finished above us only 4 months ago

I’ve not gone to a game this season yet? I did get the away kit as I liked it and collect them.

They spent £100m on Felix (worth it??) having sold Giezmann for about the same.
That same summer they had a net spend of -60m Euros.
This sort of behaviour by Spurs is laughed at for being typical Levy Net Spend Trophy king. So lets not laud Athleti for behaving in the same way.

My point was more that the chairman wants to win, Griezmann was sold for a nice juicy fee and money reinvested. We cling on to Kane and then don’t spend to build round him adequately

Seems like he's damned if we do (sell Bale & reinvest) and damned if he does ('clings on to Kane'
There are many on here who will cite our net spend as a means to bash the Board.

Simeone always states that third is the target in Spain. Anything else is a bonus as they are competing against the two richest clubs.
Spurs are competing against five richer clubs than them, and only one of those clubs do they have a better squad.
They shouldn’t expect to be in the CL with their resources. What happened with Pochettino was a result of a very good manager, some very good players, and issues at clubs with greater resources than them all happening at the same time. It’s not going to just keep happening.

It’s about having a plan, buying young players and building a new team. You don’t sell Kane when you need 1 or 2 final pieces of the jigsaw, but that’s not where the club is at, it needs a complete rebuild.
So now we have a completely unhappy player and with Son apart, little to no quality around him. Gil a good signing, but he is the only attacking player we bought after losing 3.

Blame Levy.
Step for.step, his decision making and tight fistedness, has facked a quite promising team.
You need new owners. You're going nowhere with ENIC.
