I left work in the City yesterday and went straight to the game.
A truly unspectacular game but I go past the stadium on my train home so it was easy and convenient. And I'm a loyal supporter.
I was amazed to be refused entry with my bag (a normal sized rucksack) and told I have to take it to storage and pay £10 for the privilege. Not £2, not £5, a facking tenner.
Totally unnecessary, the stadium was a third full and there was never a problem bringing bags like that into the old stadium.
Just another way for ENIC to burn a hole in the supporters pockets.
Has anyone else experienced this yet? It seriously got my back up.
Bringing a bag to the game? £10 please

Do you have to comment on every thread, go stick your finger in a dyke you clog wearing surfer.

Your the one asking it the price is for the duration of the match. What do you think? He has to go back every 10 minutes to put a tenner in? And I wouldnt mind fingering a dyke to be honest.

My wifes uncle once went to a Boro game and while he was there he noticed he had left his darts in the top pocket of his jacket, from the night before.
Imagine the damage you could do with them. Just lob them into the away fans
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This used to happen at Goodison Park In the 70s/80s, the away fans were in the lower Park End Stand - (opposite the Gwladys Street End) but home fans were in the upper stand. Dart, coins and MUCH worse used to be thrown at the away fans during the game ....

I assume that they don't want rucksacks etc brought into the stadium for security reasons? I also suspect the £10 is there to act as a deterrent, rather than as a money making exercise? I could be wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it the same theory with highest ticket prices in Europe? A deterrent for the utter sh 1ttt football the club serve up?
Cause it worked on me 👍

Guess they figure if you bring a back with some food in, you’d not buy anything at the ground, so it’s a way of balancing that.

Sounds like you’re lucky with just a tenner.
I recently had to cough £47.50 to store two bags for three hours at Euston station.
Criminal.

To be fair though, one WAS your mother-in-law.

Couldn’t you just empty your bag and stuff it in your jacket then carry the contents in?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
have you ever tried fitting 86 supersized butt plugs into one jacket? then keep quiet.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know where the first few could go - would probably make the game more enjoyable tbf
