So I've always struggled with Kane. There's been numerous times I simply can't work out how he's good as weird as that sounds. His poor performances are so very poor and at times he just looks a turn and tw@ player but over the past two seasons I've started to appreciate him far more and rightly so.
Then this season he looks absolute muck. Again. He'll still probably finish top five scorers in the league though which is what earns him, again rightly, his England starting spot.
With regards to England we all know you get less time to train together, that natural part of the game becomes more apparent in partnerships and some players just click. I just feel with the forward options we have Kane is the odd one out in style. Like he literally doesn't suit any of about eight forward players that we have available unless you picture him as a ten, which we simply do not need.
We have so many players who can break lines, play on the shoulder, run behind and play at 10 or an advanced 8 and I just cant help but feel that, in terms of general play whether a 9 that runs the channels and has the pace (or inclination) to run in behind would be more beneficial overall.
I'd quite like to see any of Rashord, Greenwood or Watkins afforded a chance at starting this set up in the next two should be winning games.

Southgate needs to drop the sulking, pampered, one paced pen machine.
England aren't spurs. They have options. Maybe a kick up the arsenal is what he needs.

There's no one in his class and especially if you are going to play a brand of football that doesnt see any high balls into the box.

He may have a point about the kick up the arris though.
As said, I am not even sure Kane is scoring too many from open play for England is he? I've not properly checked tbf.

This is the familiar long term problem in English and some others too but particularly English) football, that out of form, out of shape or just plain past it stars of last championship, MUST play no matter what. Now I rate Kane as a striker, mans numbers speak for themselves and regardless of his flaws/shortcomings, he IS one of the game's best in his position. However he's very much a player whom needs exactly the right supporting cast to be at his best. ANd in the case of the past Euros, the attack was all wrong for Kane and vice versa.
When you have Saka and Sterling let loose on the wings, Harry Kane in the middle ain't gonna work. You saw time and again that he physically cannot keep up with either the pace nor technical ability of either of those two. The three simply don't compliment each others gameplay. I don't see this as Kane criticism though. Southgate bottled the big call. Which more than once was "Take off Kane for Abraham or Rashford because this isn't quite working," at around the 50-60 minute mark.
His undoubted quality does earn his his squad place and starts. However the right to stay on the pitch 90 mins at an international tournament should be EARNED IN-GAME. If any player, no matter of status is "just not cutting it today," then they've GOT to come off. The inability to learn that sporting lesson has cost the England football team time and time again. Blame the gutless managers and the English football press who will crucify any manager whom leaves out their golden boy of the moment, no matter how out of form, old or crocked he may be or how many other better (due to being 100%) options there are.

Kane is just starting the season slow like he does every year...
he came back late from summer so didnt get pre season.. missed the first spurs games, and obviously isnt at his happiest.
if he stays fit he will be in the top 3 prem scorers at the end of the season, with 20+ goals.
its his natural habitat.
